There is a reason the hammock is hung right there. Reason: it's perfect. Cottage at Spring Lake, Ontario, Summer 2008
The Acorn Hammock Trail is one of two multi-mile loops at Marshall Hampton Preserve in Polk County. It's a peaceful walk through woods dominated by stately old oak trees with ferns on their branches, some of the most enjoyable forest I've found in the heart of Central Florida.
Our hammock used to sit on a stand that we'd keep near our patio. But over the years the stand lost a wheel and has otherwise become inconvenient to use. So my husband got a couple of bungee cords and McGyvered it so that it would hang across two trees.
As an added benefit, it is now hanging in the shade, so we'll be more likely to actually use it than we were in its former location.
