Calliandra haematocephala is commonly called the Red Powder Puff. This tree is perpetually in flower and the flowers regularly drop to the floor. Normally I go to great lengths in the greenhouse to not show man made things like pots, benches, beams, plant labels etc. Somehow I found the flowers on the cement floor reflected in the puddles from recent watering appealing. I'm not sure if anyone else will but there it is.

Taken at the city greenhouse.
Calliandra is derived from two Greek words, kallos (beauty), and andros (man), in reference to the ‘beautiful stamens’. The word haematocephala comes from two Greek words, haimatos (blood), and kephalé (head).

Also referred to as Jardin de Aclimatacion de La Orotava or, simply, El Botanico, the Botanical Garden of Tenerife is actually located in the municipality of Puerto de la Cruz. - See more at: www.tenerife-island-tourism.com/tenerife-attractions/them...
This flower caught my eye, as it reminded me of the bottlebrush plants we have growing in our garden. It's actually a 'pink powder puff' plant (Calliandra haematocephala) - the leaves fold up to 'sleep' at night, it grows best in coastal locations with little frost.

This is a really small fungus but very beautiful. Very uncommon also. Taken on supermacro. This is the underside of the cap.

This bee was so intent on getting nectar that I was able to get within inches to get this macro! I love the sheen of its body, the stripes and membranous wings. The crewcut head and silvery dot like pollen balls at the end of each of its rosy filament stamens.

Spring has finally sprung, again. I think this is a Calliandra haematocephala, or at least some version of it. Taken with a Tokina 100mm macro. Minor edits in Lightroom 6.

Flower head and leaves of a plant which was labelled Calliandra portoricensis (Fabaceae), photographed at Flecker Gardens, part of the Cairns Botanic Gardens (Cairns, Australia). I'm not sure the label was correct though, since it seems Calliandra portoricensis has much smaller bipinnate leaves. This plant appears more likely to be Calliandra haematocephala 'Alba'. Any help confirming the identity either way would be greatly appreciated.
