This was the first one I stretched and it is wonky and driving me crazy. Nor is it centred, which is the result of never plotting out an embroidering plan of attack, but just diving in madly.
Embroidered on the commute and while watching The Wire with DMC on some Aida (I think) given to me. Stretched on a balsa wood frame. Long live my new staple gun.

I2C bus comms IIRC during image loading... Top trace is SCL and bottom is SDA... Pauses visible on SCL are due to load on the host machine - the I2C bus is bit banged via a Bt878 used as a GPIO card :-)

I put a Junior Legal Size Notepad on a Large Moleskine Journal, attached them with a binder clip and voila! Paper to write quick notes, tear off to exchange information, and a place to mindmap so that you can document the results and throw away the mess. No mess, no fuss.

A livingroom was installed on the underside of the sculpture attached to the MIT Media Lab (normally it looks like www.media.mit.edu/about/images/e15.jpg ).

My father--Roger Dinda--is on the left in this photo. The guy in the middle is Fred Stone, and I'm not sure who the other is; since Dad & Stoney were off-duty firemen, I presume the other guy was as well [Sam Garrison, it turns out; see my brother's comment below]. Dad was a firefighter when I was young, and considered himself still a firefighter until he died. On his off-days, he held other jobs. The fallback job--this one--was called "driving hacks." Or just "hacking."
The photo was taken on Michigan Avenue in Kalamazoo, in front of the cab stand beside Michigan News Agency. The official-looking building across the road is the Kalamazoo County Building, which still looks about the same; on the other hand, Michigan Avenue's been a One Way road for most of my life. Michigan News still stocks comic books, which was the attraction when I was a kid. Good place to buy maps, too.
Since the picture dates from 1955, it's over fifty years old. Mom had us digging through boxes of old photos shortly before she died. This one was the best of a stash of Sernstinger pix which had mostly obvious firefighting connections.
Dad was a little chubby, I see....

here we've taken an RJ-45 cable and hacked the one end into a serial cable. For some reason our terminal system isn't asserting the DSR line, so we've tied it to DTR, which is always high. This is for the back of a new hemotology machine I'm working on the interface for. Turns out the interface specs are quite vague, and so we're just kind of winging it as we go.
I thought I was a software engineer, and this was a programming position, but I'm finding out it's a bit more hardware than anticipated... :)

The Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker is a former government-owned nuclear bunker located at Hack Green, Cheshire, England.
The first military use of the area was in World War II, when a Starfish site was established at Hack Green. Its purpose was to confuse Luftwaffe bombers looking for the vital railway junction at Crewe.
A ground-controlled interception (GCI) radar station was added.
In the 1950s, the site was modernised as part of the ROTOR project. This included the provision of a substantial semi-sunk reinforced concrete bunker or blockhouse (type R6).
The station, officially designated RAF Hack Green, was also known as Mersey Radar. It provided an air traffic control service to military aircraft crossing civil airspace.
The site was abandoned and remained derelict for many years until taken over by the Home Office. The R6 bunker was then rebuilt as a Regional Government Headquarters (RGHQs) - one of a network of 17 such sites throughout the UK - designed to enable the government to continue in the aftermath of a major nuclear attack on the UK.
In about 1992, following the end of the Cold War, the Home Office abandoned its network of RGHQs and sold many of the sites. The Hack Green Bunker was purchased by a private company and subsequently opened to the public in 1998 as a museum with a Cold War theme.
