First Hackers and Hustlers Meeting

First Hackers and Hustlers Meeting

here we've taken an RJ-45 cable and hacked the one end into a serial cable. For some reason our terminal system isn't asserting the DSR line, so we've tied it to DTR, which is always high. This is for the back of a new hemotology machine I'm working on the interface for. Turns out the interface specs are quite vague, and so we're just kind of winging it as we go.

I thought I was a software engineer, and this was a programming position, but I'm finding out it's a bit more hardware than anticipated... :)

On April 20, 2011 the Sony network was hacked and taken offline for 23 days.

The reason for the attack was Sony reducing the functionality of the PS3 already sold in market. GeoHolz created a "hack" to jailbreak the PS3 to allow the original functionality of the PS3 to use Linux. Sony then sued Geoholz and all the users downloading this hack/patch to the PS3. Anonymous hackers struck back and took down the Sony Network for 23 days. They left code saying "We are Legion". Sony claimed 77 million credit cards were stolen while the hackers proclaimed no numbers were stolen. This was the largest and longest hack in history to date.

Anonymous response:

We are Anonymous

We are Legion

We do not forgive

We do not forget

Expect us

The hack took 23 days based on the conspiracy of 23, a famous German hacker film. The phrase "We are Legion" comes from Mark 5:9 in the Bible referring to Jesus talking to the possessed. Legion refers to multiple demons. The symbol 5:9 and 23 are prominent in the painting.

Not much of a hack, per se. But I wanted to display the fake Edo-era rifle we bought in Japan in 2010. It's been leaning in a corner for two years. I cut a sheet of 1/4" hardboard to size, and spray painted it red to match the arcade cabinet and walls. I printed the kanji onto heavy cardstock and cut them out with an xacto knife. I spraypainted black first, then gold leaf for a drop-shadow effect. The rifle itself is hung with two coat hooks, done in an antique bronze finish to match the rifle hardware.

During PBS’ NOVA “Memory Hackers” session at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Pasadena, CA on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, pediatric neurologist and neuroscientist Nico Dosenbach, 12-year-old with HSAM (Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory) Jake Hausler, professor and psychologist Dr. Julia Shaw, professor Dr. André Fenton, producer, director and writer Michael Bicks and series senior executive producer Paula Apsell explore how researchers on the cutting edge of mind-control can implant, change and even erase memories. On this thought-provoking journey into the mind, NOVA investigates the mysterious nature of how we remember.

Seriously, what.

(Based, incidentally, on a t-shirt I Spreadshirted up on a whim for a Twitter friend)

This was the first one I stretched and it is wonky and driving me crazy. Nor is it centred, which is the result of never plotting out an embroidering plan of attack, but just diving in madly.

Embroidered on the commute and while watching The Wire with DMC on some Aida (I think) given to me. Stretched on a balsa wood frame. Long live my new staple gun.

my street hack. without doubt the most serious bicycle i own.

frame, FBM AUTO-PILOT. 75' headtube 20 7/8" toptube 13 1/4" chainstay

fork, FBM CB4K

headset, crane creek? what can i say? it's a touch smoother and lighter than any of the bmx ones

stem, COALITION toploader, flipped

handlebars, S&M SLAM of course

crankset, PROFILE lefthand drive with titanium axle and crank bolts

chainring, TREE 30 tooth, i have the bash guard too, but it seems to make for a weird balance trying rock & rolls on the chainring

pedals, DMR v12

seat clamp, COALITION

seatpost, PERV

seat, PRIMO HEMORRHOID modified the nose with a bread knife to stop it dead-legging me when i wasn't looking.

front wheel, G-SPORT 36h RIBCAGE laced to G-SPORT MARMOSET

back wheel, G-SPORT 48h RIBCAGE laced to PROFILE SS LHD with titanium 11 tooth one piece driver. i laced the back wheel myself using mighty George's method and instructions. both rims are from the very first run of limited raw finish. they are nuts. made from a secret proprietry blend of alloys! yay!

when i first got this bike it was light at 25lbs. i think that may be heavy now? i don't care. it's kind of old school in that all the tubes are original size OD. think late 90's STANDARD, rather than the thinned down tubes most serious frames have now. i broke my last one real quick and it had smaller OD tubes. the angles though are super fresh. it comes up on the front wheel with a nudge.

this was made by 'spooky dave' , frame and forks anyway, at Rochester New York

This is what the hack looks like in action
