Growing up near Olympia I don't recall it having the kind of vibrant scene that Wendy and I experienced last night. We were impressed with the Olymega hackerspace which is shared with a giant puppet group known as the Procession of the Species. I was able to pickup a kombucha margarita and a tempeh taco at 10:30pm on a Tuesday which blew my mind. Olymega has a active group which has dominated the Seattle Maker Faire for the last two years. This is impressive because Olympia is a relatively small town with a population of 60k people.

I visited Metalab hackerspace today. It's a short walk from my studio at the MuseumsQuartier. I hope to be hanging out there a lot to work on my projects. It's a wonderful hackerspace!

Visit to base48 hackerspace in Brno after the first day of Maker Faire Brno. I went to Brno, Czech Republic for 4 days to give 4 workshops at Maker Faire Brno -- two workshops for teaching teachers, and two workshops for anyone at the Faire.

I prefer if Hackerspace is a Zen minimalist temple. I.e. nothing except tables and chairs. I'm not even a fan of books.
However I realise I'm special and some people might be comforted with an oversized toy car and junk cluttering the place.
Kean (of Kean Electronics), made an awesome door strike controller which reads RFID tags and also displays cool animations!
