This is a nationally rare species of bee-fly and one I have never seen before. I was as excited to see this as I was the Large Blue butterflies! I've yet to establish if it's been recorded at this site before. Daneway Banks, GWT reserve, Gloucestershire, UK. 2012-06-20.
Early in May, Keith Edwards found a Green Winged Teal at Riverside Nature Park/Invergowrie Bay. Naturally, I had to try to see it & succeeded initially with very distant views across the bay where the vertical strips was (just) visible through binoculars. Thankfully, I managed to relocate the bird later and much closer to the park boundary resulting in these 'record shot' photos. A good bird to add to my "Dundee 125" list (I'm attempting to see/hear 125 - though hopefully more, species in Dundee this year).

Four views of the same group of plants at Magor Marsh. Having taken the shots I was struck by how different the plant, Cuckoo flower or Lady's Smock, looks depending on how you view it, and thus this set arose.
Taken from right down in the sward. The odd angle results from being unable to look in the viewfinder, but the result is sort of an insect's eye view of the suddenly huge flowers. towering above the grass.
