Keighley Girl Guide Association activity weekend. Photograph taken by a Keighley News photographer on 20th March 1983.

In 2021 Keighley and District Local History Society acquired an extensive collection of photograph negatives taken by the Keighley News. Groups of negatives were held in small wallets with the date and basic labelling written on the wallet. This image is developed from one of those negatives. The image was processed on behalf of the History Society by Billy Stride in 2023.

The approach light towers for runway 6 at ROA run through what was once the Countryside Muninciple Golf Course, and then cross Thirlane Road and I-581. I took this shot just because there was a jet making a contrail towards the lights, but with the lack of really good resolving power, it doesn't show up well. I also had to remove a large dust particle from the image.

Better than any book in English I've ever seen. The photos are beautiful and it outlines a bunch of restaurants based on type of cuisine.

Built nearly 5,000 years ago, Stonehenge is the most popular prehistoric monument in the world. Most visitors to the site are not allowed direct access to the stones. With Stonehenge special access tours you get that access, with a private viewing of the mysterious monoliths. Enter the stone circle itself and stand beside the mighty Sarsen rocks towering above us. Guides will explain the history of this ancient site, pointing out the altar, slaughter and heel stones, above which the sun rises dramatically on the summer solstice. There will be time to enjoy the peace, away from the crowds, as we experience Stonehenge at its most mystical and atmospheric best. Not to be missed!

These stunning images (taken summer 2015) were submitted by our sponsors www.StonehengeTours.com and local operator based in Salisbury who operate frequent 'inner circle; tours. The legendry: www.StonehengeTravel.co.uk

About The Series: The focal press guides, usually but not always written by the indefatigable W. D. Emanuel are a treasure trove for collectors of cameras. Not for the sections on how to use individual cameras (which do, however contain a great deal of good sense) but for the descriptions of different models. They are the first source to go to if you want to know the difference between (for example) an Ensign Selfix 16/20 Model I and an Ensign Selfix Model II or how many elements the Trinar lens in your Regula camera has

Havana Travel Guide – 6 Must-Dos In Havana And So Much More!

This Havana travel guide can feel very much like a trip to the past. Its old streets, particularly in picturesque Havana Vieja, haven’t changed much in the decades since the Cuban Revolution. The cars are old models from the ’50s, with the occasional Soviet LADA. Driving around the streets of Havana feels like going back to a time where the Berlin wall never fell.

while walking on the shore, i saw this beacon-like figure from afar. i went near to find out it was the figure of our lord, perhaps to guide & bless our fishermen as they set out to sea.

Day 7, Leaving Taseko lake, stunning views from Taseko mountain with an eerie haze from the forest fires. A surprise in the local town of a rodeo and some entertainment.

This guy was our tour guide / driver through the Sariska WIldlife Preserve, as we were chasing down the illusive Tiger.

Our guides on the Big Ice trek frequently had to use their ice picks to create steps or flatten out areas for us to step onto. At this crossing, we had to step on the rock in the middle and jump across. Our crampons made this difficult because, while they provided superior traction on ice, they could easily slip off the rock. Also in this shot, you can see all the dust and debris that gets blown onto the glacier. The rocks are carried along the surface of the glacier from far above. Sometimes, the debris preferentially melts the ice beneath forming small crevasses that tend to collect more debris and become rivers and small streams.

This was my guide when I was in Egypt last November. Great place to visit. It is also the last of my photos from Egypt. I hope to travel to Japan next month!
