Soldiers with the South Carolina National Guard receive an early morning briefing before heading downtown to support the 58th Presidential Inauguration Jan. 20, 2017, in the District of Columbia. Approximately 30 Soldiers from the South Carolina National Guard joined the more than 7,500 citizen-Soldiers and Airmen from about 40 states and territories in the Nation's capital to provide support for the 58th Presidential Inauguration in the District of Columbia, Jan. 20, 2017. The support of the National Guard, including South Carolina, is at the request of the local civilian authorities, as well as federal government partners. This support ensures that the hundreds of thousands of expected spectators will be able to move around smoothly and safely before, during and after the inauguration events. This was the first of quite a few photos I took at the Guards Museum in Wellington Barracks while we were down in London. I must admit that, when I took this photo, it didn't occur to me to find out what kind of fucking mortar it was! This was one of three photos I COULD take, because it was outside because, once you got inside, that was it, you weren't allowed. But since when have I taken notice of that?
Photos from the 2010 CWPT Advance Guard weekend in Richmond, Virginia. The Advance Guard weekend was a special event with some of CWPT’s top financial supporters. CWPT staffers presented in-depth, inside looks at the state of the organization. Event participants were also taken on historian led tours of the Cold Harbor, Totopotomoy Creek, Glendale, and First Deep Bottom battlefields.

service since being chartered on October 29, 1774.
The New Jersey Army National Guard held a two-day Best Warrior Competition at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst to determine which soldier and coach will be selected to take part in the regional competition hosted by the Connecticut Army National Guard in May. The weekend event judged the candidates on how well they perform on their physical fitness test, weapons qualification, the confidence course, which consists of obstacles that test your strength and endurance and land navigation will be the deciding factors on who goes home and who marches on to the next round.

The Utah National Guard held a ribbon-cutting for the remodeled armory in Beaver, Utah, June 7. Home to Charlie Battery, 2-222 Field Artillery, Beaver Armory has undergone a yearlong, $1.75-million remodeling project, which includes the following improvements:
new paint, carpet, windows, floor and ceiling tile and landscaping; office and drill-hall upgrades; new electrical wiring; heating and cooling system upgrades; lighting and energy-efficient improvements that will reduce electricity costs by 20 percent; new interior and exterior doors; communication and data-system infrastructure; new kitchen equipment and flooring; and upgraded restrooms.
On Monday, April 24, members of the Tooele Army Depot (TEAD) Fire Department along with Soldiers from the Utah National Guard (UTNG) 85th Civil Support Team (CST) and Wyoming National Guard (WYNG) 84th CST held an emergency response exercise in a vacant troop area on the depot.

2017 NC National Guard Junior Leaders Workshop:
North Carolina Army and Air National Guard senior staff officers, noncommissioned officers and over 300 junior leaders, with ranks of captain and below and staff sergeant/TSgt. and below, participated in a Junior Leaders Workshop at Joint Force Headquarters, in Raleigh, Aug. 26-17, 2017. The workshop is designed to discuss relevant topics about leadership and the challenges and opportunities facing the N.C. Guard force and the military.
