Waiting at the crossing again, but this time, there were a variety of cars rolling by instead of oil tankers only. I focused on the red Canada car (since there were no Ewoks to be noticed).

I first heard this song in college. Even then, I knew it described the way I'd be feeling a few years down the road. I've always loved the Peter, Paul and Mary version from Album 1700.

"While riding on a train goin' west

I fell asleep for to take my rest

I dreamed a dream that made me sad

Concerning myself and the first few friends I had..."

I assume this old, very faded basketball was lost and then put in this tree, hoping its owner would find it. But there aren't many kids in our neighborhood, so I'm thinking it might have been put there intentionally - a sign of someone's faded March Madness dreams and busted brackets (March Madness is the nickname of the NCAA college basketball national championship tournament. Many people fill out brackets trying to predict the winners).

Happy Caturday!

Along Interstate 90 in Montana. Looks like there has been some improvement since last year when we drove by. Then, there was a closed sign covering the rest area sign. On the other hand, maybe it’s a wonderful place and they don’t need more people!

September equinox where I live means fall is here. My favorite season, but husband is already lamenting the shorter, darker days.

My original shot (in first comment box) was a closeup of the corner of a textured wallpaper sample with grayish green color. I used a Jixipix phone app called panographic to get the look of tiles, and then used the Jixipix grungetastic filter on my desktop to get autumn colors.

Created with Dream Wombo with texturing and effects done with JixiPix Grungetastic and Pixelmator Pro.

Reminds me of times when I would take a photo to my hairdresser and get something very different.

Thank you for taking a look!

Hard to know sometimes. Seems like I'm using my phone for photos a lot these days. One fact: the pool was 3'-6"/1.1m deep.

Flowers of a nearby hau tree (Hibiscus tiliaceus) fell into the narrow drain slot on the zero-edge side of this pool. The blooms last only a day, starting as bright yellow, turning pink and then falling.

Btw - I used Jixipix Grungetastic for the frame here. My PSE20 has a limited frame selection and I've been having trouble finding other frames that don't erase my camera info when I use them. However, I discovered that if I move all the sliders to zero in the grunge mode of Grungetastic, I could get rid of the grunge effect and keep the frame. This actually works with all the grungetastic modes, but they leave a trace of grunge and/or toning - this trace is very minimal in the grunge mode.

No blue in the original, but I like how it showed up in one of the grungetastic filters - kind of hints at irises. Hope your upcoming week brings what you need. HSS

COLLABORATION with the very talented Alan Kastner: his picture my extreme edit: cropped in squaready, cloned out some background in retouch and treated in: kingcamera, scratchcam, superimpose, filterstorm, grungetastic and photofx

Today's theme for Smile on Saturday is "blue" to show support for the those who suffer from Fibromyalgia and related conditions. These little flowers were on a small bush in a barrel at the harbor in Bellingham. I keyed it and it seems to be "black lace elderberry," a type of sambucus. They started pink, but they are blued to the max now. 💙

Grunge and urban color in photography - shot with a DSLR camera and processed with Grungetastic software for painterly effect

In some ways, Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer for many people in the US and Canada, but I think we'll have to see what Mom Nature has to say about whether it's the end of our summer temps or not.

National Library Week ended yesterday, so I'm a bit late. But better late than yada, yada, yada. Libraries are so important and do much more than lend books. I support our library year-round and hope you do too. And librarians are the best!!

I saw this fantastic sign at the Salmon, Idaho library when we were there a couple years ago.

May the force be with you as you go forth this fourth!

I saw this large window decal on a car in the grocery store parking lot. Leia is always cool, but I like her better in my processed blue than the original pink (or maybe the decal had been red and faded?)

A treasured little bunny, a long ago gift from my sister, is sitting next to a new mini glass pumpkin. I was doing great at not buying holiday decos - but that little pumpkin was too cute to resist. HSS

This was one of the shots I took yestersday for Smile on Saturday's vases and pots theme. I was reminded again how it's both a blessing and a curse that your eye doesn't always see what the camera does. My cabinets are soooo dusty. I don't know why - with covid restrictions keeping me home, I should have plenty of time for dusting, right? I could have dusted and taken another photo, but sliding is much more fun. And I know - you can still see the dust, but it's much less distracting in this image than my original. Have a good week and be safe.

And are a pain in the grass! Saw this sign on US-20 as we were heading into Winthrop, WA.

Love this little skeleton that appears every October in my sister's planter. I shot its reflection in a mirror on the opposite wall - which I guess explains the prisms. Also used a Jixipix grungetastic filter.
