After a demanding twelve‑week Assessment and Selection, Captain Edwin Hawthrone was among the few selected to progress to the Special Operations Assaulter Course (SOAC). The six‑month program was designed to immerse candidates in the full spectrum of special operations, with a strong emphasis on direct action. The pace did not slow—selection had only opened the door, and the real transformation was about to begin.

The first phase of SOAC focused on building the foundational skills required of a special operations assaulter. Candidates were pushed to maintain high physical standards while developing core competencies in marksmanship, small unit tactics, medical proficiency, and mobility. Training covered a broad range of disciplines, including basic breaching, vehicle operations, amphibious movement, mountaineering, communications, and combat first aid. Each skill was introduced, practiced, and reinforced under pressure, laying the groundwork for more advanced instruction to follow.

In the second phase, the training intensified. Candidates were introduced to a wider range of advanced capabilities that extended beyond the scope of conventional units. This phase included advanced marksmanship, heavy weapons training, combative skills, and airborne operations such as parachuting and air assault, including water insertion. During advanced marksmanship training, they were expected to engage targets while on the move, testing both precision and control under dynamic conditions.

What a Brilliant Company! - Happyfrances (27/03/2012)

Johnson Surfacing have created a beautiful driveway in cobbles for me.(85 sq metres). The results are amazing. 4 of my friends and neighbours have already asked me for details of the firm involved. The workmen were so polite, clean and tidy. I have to say the best workmen that have ever been to my property. The work was completed on time and for the exact price quoted to me. I would definitely use this firm again and highly recommend.

Groundwork held a major conference at Manchester Town Hall on green space and communities. Guest speakers included the BBC's Mark Easton, broadcaster Chris Beardshaw and Phil Barton, chief executive of Keep Britain Tidy. The event also saw the launch of a book, Partnership for Action. Moonbase Groundworks Backstory

Entirely robotic Moonbases had been in place for decades, mining the craters for resources and acting as an assembly and launching stage for the majority of robonaut missions to the outer planets. Needing very little personal space, no atmosphere and very little power, these bases could be compact and efficient and were generally landed from orbit or free-roaming platforms.

The desire to establish permanent human research colonies called for much larger structures to be constructed, giant errections housing everything from food production greenhouses to recreation and fitness biodomes. The job of preparing the groundworks on the moon was tasked to a team of specially reprogrammed maintenance Sprogs, outfitted with their own power suits to pilot. Each base was given a color code, Moonbase Alpha was blue, Sigma was Yellow and the highly restricted Moonbased Omega, built on the dark side for Omega Tellurion, was White. Each power suit was outfitted with a different earth-moving tool, from diggers to ploughs and giant drills for the foundations.
