This is another photo of the same hole. Notice the lichen growing on the tree around the crater. Lichen shows that the air is good in our area. We're lucky we have lots of trees with lichen. Needless to say, the snapping turtle was not there! 😊

Locals will recognise the pepperpot shape of the Birmingham Hall of Memory in the top right of this picture and the Repertory Theatre in the lower left.
I have not shown this photo before today.
The completed building is shown in the first comment box below.
On my walk the other day, I discovered this void in the bottom of one of our trees. Except for that hole, this tree seems healthy. I have no idea how long that will last. What caught my eye was the appearance of a snapping turtle snout.

Following on from groundwork set during 2015, Transdev continues to refresh the image of its operations for 2016 complete with three new rebrands for Harrogate, Keighley and Blackburn. Two 'spare' Gemini's for route 36 were unveiled in the full new brand image earlier this year along with the fleetname of "The Harrogate Bus Company", though the operation still legally trades as Harrogate & District Travel Ltd. This new image has now started to spread out across the network, with route 1 which connects Harrogate and Knaresborough being the first to receive single deckers in the new two-tone red livery (minus fleetnames as yet). July 12th saw the debut of both buses to carry this livery, with the added bonus of having been refurbished and given a facelift so as to resemble a Wright Eclipse Urban 2 complete with crystal-clear white LED destination equipment. One of the two Volvo B7RLE's is YJ07 PDV which is seen here leaving Knaresborough crossing over the river Nidd by the entrance to Mother Shipton's Cave. This was new to Blackburn but was sent to York in 2011 with others to improve the company image as new routes were starting up, before this one went to Burnley and Pendle in 2013 when most of the B7's were replaced by older or smaller vehicles in York or simply weren't required. 1834 and 1839 will eventually join this and 1837 at Harrogate... there are questions about the future of 1840/41/42 which had been in other fleets and were due to be returned off-lease but have been retained instead - and as 1838 was one of a few which were only leased but later purchased by Transdev, it may be that these three follow suit particularly when you consider that a number of B10BLE's in the Harrogate fleet are to be withdrawn by the end of the year. 1700-1705 and 1800 are going to be refurbished as well.
The basic groundworks are now complete with the track ballasted, fencing and level crossing added.
Now to add buildings, trees, telegraph poles, vehicles, boats people and animals etc.
This will bring it all to life and should be complete in the next week or so.

Groundworks North Wales, Big Lottery funded initiative alongside the River Dee at Dock Road Connahs Quay
Groundwork has started on the esplanade for the new bridge linking Lossiemouth to the East Beach. This JCB JB131 is the biggest excavator on site, luckily there was a spot between the fences to get a decent shot of it.

Following on from groundwork set during 2015, Transdev continues to refresh the image of its operations for 2016 complete with three new rebrands for Harrogate, Keighley and Blackburn. Examples from all three of the 'company' operations to have been rebranded are seen together in this photo with an example from the Blackburn Bus Company, the Keighley Bus Company, and the Harrogate Bus Company....
In an order of 24 vehicles, YJ16 DVV and YJ16 DWL are brand new 11.7m air-conditioned (Thermo-King) Optare Versa single deckers - the order split with 18 to Blackburn (as per 230 on the left) and 6 to Keighley as per 242 in the centre. Interestingly, despite Optare offering a new revised style for the rear end, Transdev have specifically ordered these Versa's with the conventional rear end complete with 'Spider Eyes' rear light clusters. The interior specification of these buses includes wood-effect flooring, wi-fi and USB sockets, in addition to audio 'next stop' announcements which are linked to the destination equipment and GPS-based ticket machine; but most notably the seating has been re-trimmed to the brand new style which will be used across the Blazefield fleets and specially branded routes - the seat moquette is a Ray Stenning 'Creating Desire' creation, whilst headrests are leather and are coloured according to the company the bus is based at (Red for Harrogate, Green for Keighley, Blue for Blackburn and also for Yorkshire Coastliner). The moquette itself is a grey base overlayed with the triangular chunks of colour which are used in the external livery to denote each fleet... red for Harrogate (also for RedExpress), black for route 36, orange for Little Explorers, grey for CityZap, mid-blue for Blackburn, light-blue for Coastliner, green for Keighley, lime-green/yellow for DalesWay, purple/pink for Hotline (a brand yet to be launched, to connect Burnley and Preston via Blackburn).
This new image started in Harrogate on route 36, while route 1 which connects Harrogate and Knaresborough was the first to receive single deckers in the new two-tone red livery with the added bonus of having been refurbished and given a facelift so as to resemble a Wright Eclipse Urban 2 complete with crystal-clear white LED destination equipment, whilst branding sees the number 1 logo given the same 'defragmentation' style as is used on route 36. One of the Volvo B7RLE's now assigned for route 1 is YJ07 PDU which is here at the depot open day.
To the right is one example of where the rebranding exerccise started. Stealth-fronted Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 Volvo B5TL BL65 YZA is one of 14 vehicles specially ordered to work route 36 between Ripon, Harrogate and Leeds - and the fleet comes with a host of upmarket features very rarely seen all on the same vehicle.
