Groundwork held a major conference at Manchester Town Hall on green space and communities. Guest speakers included the BBC's Mark Easton, broadcaster Chris Beardshaw and Phil Barton, chief executive of Keep Britain Tidy. The event also saw the launch of a book, Partnership for Action. Groundwork: The Early Years, celebrating the legacy of the late John Davidson, Groundwork's first national chief executive.
We made cupcakes to celebrate 21 years of great work at Groundwork in Blackburn. In this picture is the Mayoress of Blackburn and the Executive Director of Groundwork enjoying some of the cupcakes!

It is very easy to see the work of Groundwork through the prism of a single aspect of our service delivery; however, there are a number of times when the service we provide is complimentary. A prime example is the inter-action of Green Team with our Work Programme, where young unemployed people are recruited through one aspect of the business to help deliver another. The man in the photograph Philip Howorth, is not only a shining example of that joint working, but he clearly spoke about the benefits of Groundwork to senior politicians at a Conservative Party fringe event in Manchester in the Autumn.

Groundwork Lawrence Earth Day is a city-wide cleanup event that happens every year. Held virtually over the last two years, we are excited that, once again, it will be an in-person event!! Volunteers of all ages are welcome to help out as are businesses, schools, non-profits, and community organizations.
