Once the carpet and tile was up, some small nails protruded from the concrete. I took an angle grinder and ground them flush.

Image was created this evening on the grasslands of Mission Trails Regional Park located in San Diego, California. This is a Kumeyaay Native American Indian grinding rock. The Indians used these metate (holes) with the mano (stone) to grind acorns nuts, etc. The Kumeyaay date back 12,000 years.

This resembles similar holes that are found in California around Native American sites.

After a good day on the Nantlle Ridge I decided to head up to Y Garn for the golden hour. Lucie decided to join me and is seen here grinding out a good effort on knackered legs!

Even by Ethiopian standards, the Mursi tribes are remote; even by Omo Valley standards, they are considered fierce.

They are certainly fascinating!

Mornings in a Mursi village get off to a slow start. The fires outside the simple huts are small, the utensils are few, and the treasured water bottles are reused many times. In full face- and body-paint, women grind grain for the staple sorghum porridge or fruit for the local fermented drink.

Went on another of the fantastic Hidden London tours today, this one was looking at the disused platforms at Charing Cross Underground Station. Will put up a few from the visit over the next few days... here are a few for starters.

The Rail Grinder was parked up on the other platform. Note the "fake" film poster to the front. There were loads of these types of poster (more to follow)... some for fake films and others of nondescript and generic advertising.

You can almost hear the heavy clanking as run down Stanier 8F 48273 plods through Saltley on a cold 7th December 1962. The clouds of steam, so beloved of railway photographers probably indicates the engine is hard working and the fireman is suffering.
