Many grieving hands of leaves lovingly caress the body of the departed family elder.

The dark sorrow and the light in front.

.... A recent addition to Mount Pleasant Cemetery, is an unmarked monument and presumably unoccupied grave. As a tombstone tourist and cemetery photographer, this is the first time I've seen a gargoyle guarding a grave ....

you grieve their going away, but that is not how it is.

It is an always flowing spring."

Thousands of years merely play like fireflies in darkness.

Pyramids all about. The smell of coffins.

Moonlight upon sand. Here and there shadows of date palms

Like disintegrated columns. Assyria stands dead - humbled.

Stench of mummies on our bodies: all of life's business is finished.

"Remember?" she asked. I queried merely, "Yes?"

On 21st of February in 1952 Pakistan authorities, refusing to grant Bangla --- the language spoken by people in the then East Pakistan --- let loose police to brutally thwart a movement by Bengalis over demand that Bangla become a state language. Several lives had been lost - students and others - in that savagery which eventually achieved Bangla its due honour in Pakistan and later the glory of International Mother Language.

Followed by cries of mothers who lost their children, hopelessness of women who lost their husbands, and others who lost their future in hands of political terrorists.

Since I have these two images and by alphabetical order they'd be next up, I thought I'd post them today. One is of a BFC branded site and the other the re-named same company BFL from a little later on. As I understand it, BFC stemmed from Cawoods, but quite how what was presumably a private company became involved with the British Coal Board I'm not sure, Certainly BFC was known for supplying coal as well as petrol. Maybe Dan Lockton can fill in some of the missing details?

This is a lovely rural scene of days long passed. the variety of pumps on the forecourt is interesting to see, the nearer one a real survivor at the time. Over to the right is a BFL branded open/closed floor sign, that seems a pretty rare item to me.

Remarkably, JR Grieves & Son survives to the present day, currently branded Gulf but had been Butler and Scottish Fuels in between. No photo of it as Scottish Fuels, but can be seen on Streetview - with the pole sign tilted to a most unfortunate angle so it cannot really be seen from this angle!. I do though have photos of it as Butler and Gulf, both already posted and added below.

But since you've been gone I've been lost inside

Tried and failed as we walked by the riverside

The MADness is opening tomorrow, June 8, at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. “What, Me Worry? The Art & Humor of MAD Magazine.” The exhibit runs through October 27, 2024.

I have to thank a friend. When I was choosing pieces to show the museum, for the exhibit, this was not one of them. Thank you Karen for telling me to add it. They picked it with the others that I have posted this past week! The fun part with this illustration is that these were my bosses at MAD. Left to right: editor: Joe Raiola, art director: Sam Viviano, editor: Charlie Kadau and relaxing in the casket, editor: John Ficarra.

My entry for the Bloggers Photography Club - self portrait

For my darling Addison ❤

This is my friend Benjamin Laub aka Grieves. Last winter he got signed to Rhymesayers and needed some new promo shots. We rented an expensive light kit and shot in various locations around Seattle. It's funny that the photo they ended up using was one we took on our way to QFC to pick up beef brisket for dinner. Completely natural lighting. Oh and it was taken around December 2009 not Oct. 2006 like the info says.

As today we grieve the loss of over 50,000 souls in the States and countless more around the globe let us remember that OUR story of the pandemic is but one tiny page in God's story. God meets us wherever we are on the road of life and He is always with us. We are NEVER alone. May the peace of Christ be with you all ! No words can begin to express...

Very upsetting image when I realised this Owl was sitting on a (probably) deceased relative at the side of the road. It was not feeding, just loooking around. It allowed me to (accidentally) drive to within 1 metre of it without moving.

I wanted to create something that screamed pain, grief, loss and maybe even anxiety. I thought of just doing two bodies and then three and just decided to add even more to create a better feeling.

Also, I'm trying to not use red, at least for a while. Even though its my favorite color, I tend to use it all the time and I'm trying to use other colors that I don't typically use.

Here I am preparing for my most recent encounter with Judge M. Raymond Boucher of the Nice Cour D’Assises. Judge Boucher is investigating the explosion of my late husband's private jet over the Cote D'Azur, while flying back from Marseilles to Monte Carlo.

I decided some time ago that persisting in my usual persona of a glamorous courtesan and high-class prostitute would emphasize to the authorities that I have nothing to hide. Whereas, a sudden metamorphosis into a traditional grieving widow might look like protesting a little too much!

Here is a transcript of part of the recent interview, for which I wore the very revealing red cocktail gown that you can partially see in the accompanying picture. I had also anointed myself heavily with Paco Rabanne “Million” – an exclusive perfume which retails at $60,000 per bottle.

Judge Boucher: Lady Rebecca – what is your relationship with Colonel Ezra Barrington, your late husband’s Head of Security?

Lady Rebecca: Colonel Barrington is one of my lovers.

Judge Boucher: As you have previously declared, you are woman who enjoys intimate relations with many lovers, and partcipates in many other unusual sexual activities. I understand that - for a woman such as you - sex can be a very casual business. But, perhaps – in this particular case – you may have had some special feelings for Colonel Barrington?

Lady Rebecca: No special feelings as such. I enjoy his mode and methods of lovemaking - but I enjoy sexual activity just as much with many other men – and women.

Judge Boucher: Lady Rebecca, you are an exceptionally promiscuous woman. Some might also say you are a corrupting and immoral influence on society. Should this case ever come to trial - with you as defendant, on a charge of homicide - the complacent way in which you describe your inveterate cuckolding of your late husband would make a very bad impression on members of a typical jury.

Lady Rebecca: I cannot help the views of individuals I have never met, M. Boucher. I am what I am, and I do what I do. I am a courtesan, a trophy wife, a madame, and a professional prostitute. I also from time to time perform for XXX adult websites These aspects of my life are widely known – I have never attempted to conceal them. But I do not see what any of this has to do with whether persons unknown concealed a bomb in my husband’s private aircraft… ?

Judge Boucher: Lady Rebecca - any jury would be entitled to have insight into your character and motivations. Your career in the world of professional vice clearly illustrates that you are a woman who uses her ability to attract rich and powerful men for her personal advancement. This would not sit well with a jury. Personally, I do not believe that you are guilty of any crime, but I do believe that you may be withholding important information about this case. It would be a great pity if – by shielding others who may be guilty – you ended up on trial yourself!
