Greyscalegorilla and Coudal Partners are asking people to contrast their best and worst photos of 2008. I uploaded about 2200 photos to Flickr this year, so it was hard to narrow it down. Worst, especially, was really hard to choose, though I did limit myself to "worst that I chose to upload to Flickr anyway" since I've got plenty of terrible photos that never make it to an upload.

Because I heard that this thing called "skeuomorphism" is really about to take off, I built and rendered this 3D app icon in Photoshop CC. Inspired by Greyscale Gorilla's BananaCam icon tutorial.

Cinema 4D with MoDynamics, After Effects. This is the first-run. Got to re-do the whole thing, esp. textures and lighting. And maybe make two versions, one that spins eternally. It's a dream we all are in! : )

Great thanks to Nick Campbell for the excellent tutorial on the subject!

I ran into Nick Campbell while he was reading his presentation at the Starbucks.

Approximately one hour before his talk, he was a little bit stressed ! ;-)

Be there or be a 2D line segment, suckers!

(Inspired and building on the professional GreyscaleGorilla meetup)

I took this while at my grandparents house in Jackson Mississippi the other day. It's the reflection of their pond in which I simply rotated it 180degrees to seem as if it is oriented correctly. I liked the painterly effect that the slight ripples in the water gave.

Nick "greyscalegorilla" Campbell shows a budding photographer which way not to look through the lens at the April 2005 Chicago Photobloggers meetup and shootout in Chinatown

After seeing Nick Campbell's render he posted on here, I wanted to give it a go myself. Sadly, I didn't get it 100% but I think I came pretty close to getting down the method he used.

App's Used:

Cinema 4D to render everything.

Photoshop CS5 for color correction and curves.

Playing with my balls...

actually, I was playing with some HDRI maps that I found through this huge list and came across this old tut from GSG that I forgot I did... the tut can be found here.
