Playing with caustics in Cinema 4D after watching Greyscalegorilla's tutorial.

Minimal Faceted Chair.

Modeled & Rendered in Cinema 4D 11.5 Using the GreyscaleGorilla HDRI Light Kit and Composed in After Effects CS5

Started with a Wallpaper I made: www.flickr.com/photos/sniggity/5429637514/

Took a few hours to model because I built it polygon by polygon, the only way I knew how to make it, HA!

Here is my fifth build in my colorwheel series of 2025 (a nod to the OG Bionicle, Gali). #colorwheelchallenge

This build was done in 9.9 hrs.

Made on Puget Systems machine

Rendered with Octane in Cinema 4D

Opening shot of the video. GSG city kit came in very handy for this job: greyscalegorilla.com/citykit/

The city kit is a great addition to Cinema 4D, but it has its limits. I works really well in Wide and Medium shots but its not great for street level. We ended up filling the streets with stock models and buildings that we modelled our selves.

I found this tutorial as a tweet from Maxon. I used Cinema 4D to model and texture it. The lighting is done by simple luminous planes that recreate the effect of studio soft boxes. This is the first view.

Space Police Planetary Hammerhead Incident Support Harrier

aka- The Big P.H.I.S.H.

Made for #febrovery this is an ode to my childhood in two ways: One of my favorite sets growing up was the Solar Snooper from the "green" era of Space Police. The other influence was my brother and my favorite non-LEGO toys- the Cobra Hammerhead from G.I.Joe.

This rover reuses the wheels I made for my MTron Gigaton Flux Inductor moc. The P.H.I.S.H. operates on planets with water and is amphibious by nature. When the Aquanauts call for help to deal with pesky Aquasharks the Space Police are there to help with this enforcement vehicle. The vehicle carries two Poseidon Darts, each equipped with 4 torpedoes and a harpoon cannon plus a holding compartment for criminals behind the pilot. There are also two T.U.N.A subs (Tactical Underwater Nautical Attack sub) each carrying two torpedoes.

On the harrier itself are two torpedoes, a rotating dual harpoon cannon, and two dual barrel forward-facing cannons. The vehicle is operated by two drivers, two Poseidon Dart pilots, two T.U.N.A. sub pilots, and an additional enforcement officer.

Hope you like this nostalgic build. It was created using the Greyscalegorilla Plus Plugins, Bricklink Studio, Cinema4D, and Photoshop on a Puget Systems machine. I started this build two days ago and took roughly 8 hrs to make.

Here is my sixth build for the #colorwheelchallenge

Based on a purple jewel beetle.

This was built digitally in Bricklink Studio and rendered using Greyscalegorilla plugins and Octane inside Cinema 4D all made possible by a Puget Systems machine.

Now that I have a job and actually know what I AM (in a professional sense) I've thrown myself in the web developer culture and community. Listening to keynotes about social media, SEO, other web stuff has kinda been my thing lately (I usually throw it on while I'm working as a break from music). During lunch I stumbled upon this lecture by Nick Campbell of Greyscale Gorilla entitled, "The Creative Gap: Becoming Better Than Most." If you have an hour and a half I definitely suggest listening to it.

At about twenty minutes in he REALLY got my attention when he started talking about the benefits of doing a 365. Doing something everyday and then posting it on the internet will not only make you better at whatever you're doing - it takes a butt load of courage. Anyways, this definitely struck a chord with me. So today's post goes out to the Gorilla, Nick Campbell (Go follow him on Twitter).

Apparently when I jump I ninja kick?

Last year I created my first digital Lego #colorwheelchallenge. This is my second time taking on this challenge and I decided to do "Bots and Botanicals" for this round. As like last time, each build must be completed within 24 hours including render time.

This build was done in 8.45 hrs.

Done in a morning, could have got the walk cycle of the robot better with more time, and could have done with more than 5 seconds to start and finish it nicer, but quite pleased with such a quick turnaround.

My friend Simon Liu insisted that green be a frog, so why not a frog samurai?

I was able to make most of this last night and just before work today with rendering being done over my lunch break for a total of 5 and a half hours. This was built digitally in Bricklink Studio and rendered using Greyscalegorilla plugins and Octane inside Cinema 4D all made possible by a Puget Systems machine.

In that order. Poor Mary. Grenada has... well, done that.

I was chosen as one of three runners-up in the GreyScaleGorilla contest. Very cool.

Demo of why use arithmetic progression rather than geometric, to calculate Scale of subsequent joints - when you want geometry rather than nature sort of things. This way you keep constant distance between rolls.

Cinema 4D, XPresso.

Thanks Mike 'The Monkey' Senften for the tutorial on the whole subject.

Set out with the goal in mind of starting and finishing a wallpaper I could share in Cinema 4D and Adobe Photoshop within a few hours. I took an older concept I had been playing around with, of this artifact breaking free from a crystal prison and ran with it. Interesting fact, is that the entire piece is created all from the same shape (the artifact was the starting point). I just used a series of deformers and materials to create the unique crystal look, and then some color correction/highlights in photoshop.

For some behind the scenes shots, with some different views of the piece before the final render check out the profile on my Behance page.

Emails are archivable, but hand-written notes are forever. A care package from one of my favorite Chicago designers, Katherine Walker.

Now, I won't have a headache or drink plain water. As an added bonus, I'm reminded of photo booth adventures in Brooklyn with Victoria, KK, Ryan and Justin.

Hand-written notes. I like them.

Here is my fourth build for the #colorwheelchallenge

This was quite fun and once I figured out a way to attach the shields with a rigid connection the rest came together quite smoothly.

This was built digitally in Bricklink Studio and rendered using Greyscalegorilla plugins and Octane inside Cinema 4D all made possible by a Puget Systems machine.

Because I heard that this thing called "skeuomorphism" is really about to take off, I built and rendered this 3D app icon in Photoshop CC. Inspired by Greyscale Gorilla's BananaCam icon tutorial.
