Grand Elk's 120 job has just dropped off a cut of cars on the Grand Rapids Eastern interchange and is now lining the switches so they can head back south. GP38-3 #3829 was 1 of the original 10 Grand Elk units. These days I believe it's on the WSOR.

Ces grés de roches déchiquetées, façonnés par le vent et le sable, donnent au site de Petra en Jordanie son extraordinaire palette de couleurs qui s’étend du jaune au violet passant par les oranges, roses, rouges, jaunes, verts et bleus. Ces fantastiques couleurs sont dus aux oxydes métalliques contenus dans les grés. Oxydes de fer pour les rouges (comme dans le désert du Wadi Rum), oxydes de cuivre pour les verts et bleus, oxydes de zinc pour les blancs et sulfures pour les jaunes.

Norfolk Southern's B49, running as Z739 on CSX, is about to cross the Grand Rapids Eastern diamond at Fuller with a long string of interchange traffic. The high hood GP38-2 will leave the train in the old Conrail yard north of the diamond, pick up whatever the GRE left for them, and head south back to Hughart Yard.

Grand Rapids Eastern's thrice weekly freight roars uphill out of Grand Rapids behind Marquette Rail GP38-2 #2042 not long after sunrise. Behind the engine are cars for all 3 of GRE's customers.
