Will Phillips’ mother, Shirley, weeps over memories of her son at the family home in Greenfield. In the entire history of the Greenfield Police Department, no officer had lost their life while on duty until a cold dark morning in late September of 2011. Officer Will Phillips had been killed in a hit-and-run crash along U.S. 40 near the Knightstown High School during the early morning hours on Thursday, September 30, 2010. The loss of the popular officer shocked the small community as well as the members in their police force. Officer Phillips was on training mission for the police department at the time. He and two other officers were riding their bicycles from Greenfield to Knightstown overnight and were on their way back to Greenfield when Phillip was hit and killed. He left behind a wife, Lesley and two young sons: Gavin, 5, and Bryson, 2, as well as many family and friends.

My birthday outing to my "happy place", Greenfield Village, was two days after my birthday (since the Village is only open Thursday–Sunday now).
Greenfield Docks. The fishermen are waiting for the high tide, due around 15:00. From here they will leave the River Dee estuary and head out in to the Irish Sea.
There has been a dock at Greenfield since the 1800s, serving the local mills to which copper would be brought from along the North Wales coast and finished goods exported to Europe.
