Green Bay & Western RS11 309 switches at Norwood Yard in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The GB&W applied unusual chop noses to several units, including this RS11 and several ex-Long Island C420’s. They appear to be similar to short hoods on lo-nose C420’s, but there is a brake wheel in the middle, ruining the smooth lines of the hood.
Anyone who visited the Green Bay & Western in its last decades undoubtedly encountered the less-than-classic office at Green Bay’s Norwood Yard. Here an RS11 switching the yard passes the structure.

A morning visit to Green Bay & Western’s yard in Green Bay, Wisconsin yields a nice overview of the facility, but no activity. There’s an RS11 in the servicing area, and a Century in the shops. Former Saint Paul Union Depot 44-tonner 441, now in the National Railway Museum, is on the far left.

ADL Enviro200 MMCs 64 (YY69TLV) and 65 (YY69TLX) flank Volvo B9R Plaxton Leopard 28 (YX14SCZ) at the Greenbays Park site just outside of the new Carthouse Lane Depot in Horsell.
64 and 65 are awaiting a 456 route test, which is why they have yet to be out on a Sunday, though hopefully this will happen next week. 28 is now stored at Horsell rather than the coach yard in Bracknell for operational convenience.

A surprise awaited us as we disembarked the Ann Arbor car ferry Viking in Kewaunee, Wi. this chilly damp morning of Feb. 27, 1982. As Green Bay Western 312 was sporting a rather fresh new paint scheme, I liked the former scheme, but did like the silver trucks and tank.
RS3 #305 arrives at Norwood Yard. A crewman gives a friendly wave as the train pulls across 12th Ave. Love the grade crossing signal.
The Meyer Theatre is a historic theater located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Originally known as the Fox Theatre, the building was constructed in 1929 in the Art Deco and Spanish Colonial Revival architecture styles.
The Escanaba & Lake Superior's Baldwin fleet could not keep up with traffic demands, so the road looked to outside entities to help out. Here a leased GB&W RS27 works with a recently-purchased ex-Conrail GP38. Seen here at Green Bay, the pug nose was at least a small consolation for the lack of Eddystone products;
People from around northeastern Wisconsin who seek to enter the Catholic Church at Easter gathered for the Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion March 13 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in De Pere. About 230 people, both catechumens and candidates, were presented by their parishes to Bishop David Ricken as they begin final period of preparation for the sacraments of initiation. RS32 4243 works the east end of the yard at North Green Bay passing Broadway Tower. The tower was a small cramped facility that was kept pretty busy watching over the GB& W- CNW crossing plus funneling traffic into the N Green Bay yard. Summer 1983.
With a trademark Alco plume of exhaust, Century 420 319 leaves the Ore-Ida food processing plant and continues eastward with its train. Wisconsin Central took over the GB&W in late 1993, and cleaned out the Alcos, which went to other railroads. 319 went to the Caddo, Antonine & Little Missouri in Arkansas, and eventually wound up on the Livonia, Avon & Lakeville in New York. A CN crew heads off into what is locally called "the swap". The name, no doubt, is due to the fact that this industrial park is largely built on what was a wetland.
An excellent eating establishment. Sign was repaired and repainted (as it was previously) after the diner was damaged by a fire in 2011.
The Green and Gold, that is. Those are the colors of the Green Bay Packers of the NFL. I suspect that the majority of residents of Wisconsin are fans of the team, some more so than others. The owner of this 2nd Gen Ford Tempo seems to be all-in.

The logo and paint on GB&W 315 is slowly turning to dust as the locomotive rots in the elements year after year.
I was at Duck Creek Jct. one Saturday waiting for the ESGBA to arrive, when I heard on the scanner that the lead C628 had had an fire in the electrical cabinet and the train was not able to proceed. Here is RS32 #4241 heading out to rescue the stranded train.
