From a distance, the Green Heron is a dark, stocky bird hunched on slender yellow legs at the water’s edge, often hidden behind a tangle of leaves. Seen up close, it is a striking bird with a velvet-green back, rich chestnut body, and a dark cap often raised into a short crest. These small herons crouch patiently to surprise fish with a snatch of their daggerlike bill. They sometimes lure in fish using small items such as twigs or insects as bait. (Always fun to watch them on the hunt.)

Ferns make up the surface of a green wall at SFMOMA. The wall is composed of concrete with fist-sized cups of soil in a diagonal grid, with about 8 inches between cups, from which the plants have grown and spread.
This is Rudbeckia 'Prairie Sun'. Saw these in a catalogue, thought they were cute.......and expensive. So I bought seeds, et voila! 8 plants for 5 bucks. I like how husky and strong they are.
55008 "The Green Howards" departs St Helens Junction with 1E99 1305 Liverpool to York on 14th October 1981.
The final month of BR Deltic operation saw many visits of the class to Liverpool on the Pennine trains, unfortunately as an impoverished 16 year old it was often as much as I could do to take the train as far as the miserly 12 miles to St Helens Junction - this being one such occasion.
It looked like a day of travelling out to St Helens Junction hoping for a Deltic on an incoming Pennine as I'd taken 47477 out there on the 1105 to York for 46046 back.
The scene above has changed drastically, with O.L.E. covering the area and houses alongside the railway where the old colliery and associated land was.

I've just found out from the wonderful Curator at the Bird Kingdom that these are not Japanese White-Eyes or Mejiro. They are White-Eye Zosterop. (family: Zosteropidae. The members of Zosteropidae, with the exception of a few species, are marked by a ring of tiny, white feathers surrounding the eye and are also known as silvereyes and spectacle birds. )
In late February 2019 I visited the Epping Ongar Railway's Green Line Running Day focussed on North Weald Station. A photographer's trip to Toot Hill was enjoyed by many and proved extremely popular. I also took a few shots at Epping Station.

He is a Pagan symbol who heralds Spring after a long winter and the renewal of lush vegetation.
