In the Green Morning, Now, Once More

In the green morning, before

Love was destiny,

The sun was king,

And God was famous.

The merry, the musical,

The jolly, the magical,

The feast, the feast of feasts, the festival

Suddenly ended

As the sky descended

But there was only the feeling,

In all the dark falling,

Of fragrance and of freshness, of birth and beginning.

What a lovely holiday we had!! 3+ weeks in beautiful Costa Rica! And no, it was not all about photography but I did bring 'the gear'... And when you have the cameras with you.. it's hard to ignore that irresistible itch. Went through some serious rehab there!! :-).

Just kidding obviously. While hubby was totally content reading a book or 12, I was 'allowed' to go play outside a lot. That worked for the both of us.

We had just arrived in Tortuguero, Costa Rica, and the next morning joined a rather crowded boat tour. While most eyes were glued to a perfectly still Sloth hanging lazily (!) in the trees above us, right beside us a tiny Amazon Kingfisher had more active plans. Perched calmly on a stick, it waited patiently, then, in a flash, dived through the rain, each droplet catching the light, and snatched its meal with perfect precision.

In a world 100 years after man, everything once created by people is becoming biomass. When left alone, nature will extract almost any sign of human existence. Resting in rural silence somewhere in Italy, we found proof of that. There is an artifact of industrial archeology dating back to the 19th century. But it was abandoned long ago. It has been isolated for an indefinite period. Today, surrounded by dense undergrowth it is blending in perfectly. What is this place? And what is its story? Join us while we are exploring an unseen world - the world after man! This is our exploration video: youtu.be/E9ReyaSq9F0

Nothing new to most of you but after a 5 year drought this is the first time I've seen our hillsides this green. Of course I had to stop the car and take a photo. It makes me feel as if I live in England or Ireland and I love it.

Species # 906

Trogon viridis

One of the yellow-bellied trogons, the Green-backed Trogon, Trogon viridis, is widely found in Amazonia with disjunct populations in southeastern coastal Brazil and on the island of Trinidad. Until recently, these populations were classified as subspecies of White-tailed Trogon, though mitochondrial gene analysis and differences in voice and plumage served as evidence in the acceptance of this as a distinct species.
