Edited Hubble Space Telescope image of the barred spiral galaxy NGC 613. Inverted grayscale variant.
Original caption: First discovered in 1798 by German-English astronomer William Hershel, NGC 613 is a galaxy which lies in the southern constellation of Sculptor 67 million light-years away. Featured here in a new image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, NGC 613 is a lovely example of a barred spiral galaxy. It is easily distinguishable as such because of its well defined central bar and long arms, which spiral loosely around its nucleus. As revealed by surveys, about two thirds of spiral galaxies, including our own Milky Way galaxy, contain a bar. Recent studies have shown that bars are more common in galaxies now than they were in the past, which gives us important clues about galaxy formation and evolution.
My favorite shot of my weekend trip - it really captured what I love about rolling mountains. The way the atmosphere makes them lighter and lighter with distance.
I really amplified the effect by boosting the blacks in the shot, which essentially made the foreground trees lose all their detail. I like the effect even though it looks like fake clipart. :)
I promise I'm not trying to copy American Apparel. I just happen to love Helvetica Bold more than anything and I love doing things with clothes.
Changed NASA's raw data on canopy height to a grayscale image. The brighter the color, the higher the canopy.

Although this tiny, almost insignificant line spoils the viewing experience, I still suggest you see it on WHITE

Image of a plum flower - this is the blue channel which is why things are a little dark - there wasn't much blue in the original image... (I posted the original image a couple of days ago.)
