Just a different view from the same spot as the photo before this one. I liked both versions so...

A rainy morning along the southern California coast. Watching the waves roll in and then quickly rush back out as if they did not want to be left behind.

North American River Otter feeding in the Yakima Sportsman State Park pond. Amazingly efficient fisher. It came up with a Sun Fish after almost each dive!

Have a wonderful Friday!!!

Will be back later, must get back to work !!

:~)

I couldn't believe how "flat" the light was - not a hint of a shadow!

A lovely work of nature!

Heading north on California’s Highway 395 in the eastern Sierra just past the southern turnoff to the June Lake Loop there is a section of landscape that always draws my attention. I have stopped many times, allowing my mind and eyes the freedom to investigate this unusual attraction. I rarely make photographs here. This stop usually manifests into an opportunity to simply stretch my legs, make room for more coffee and the opportunity to refill my mug.

Subconsciously, I know there are many photographs to be discovered and created here. But I rarely can decipher the clues.

On this recent stop something was different. Maybe it was the soft diffused light. Maybe it was the sensual perfume of the approaching rain. Maybe it was just the overall relaxing feeling of this moment in time. Or maybe it was a combination of the previous and or other influencers that lingered unnoticed. Leaning back against the driver’s side door sipping strong black coffee I once again found myself studying the complexity of this familiar landscape. Then without warning, I discovered this rather simplistic composition. It had been there all along. Many years. Countless stops. Waiting to be discovered.

Ceremoniously I set up my tripod and carefully attached my camera. It took a few attempts to work out my desired composition and exposure. I made this photograph as a light refreshing rain began to fall.

It's Po's first winter, and the first real snow we've had. He sat under an evergreen where the snow was thin and implored me to fix the situation.

There's a saying around these parts that summer doesn't begin until July 5th. The hazy gray days of winter roll on. And while it may say its spring on the calender Seattle has hardly had one many sunny days lately. I know I should be used to it by now, having lived here my entire life but every year about this time I start to get really anxious for a sunny day or two.

My local favorite market. Heirloom pumpkins. These are quite pretty to look at not so pretty to crave unless you own a chainsaw.

Took this from a distance thinking I might crop it but decided I liked the whole frame with the colors. Nothing special, just liked it. :) Not sure if I'll keep it.

Just a few photos from a very quick walk at the nearby park before more heavy rain and storms start arriving soon. High winds, flooding rains, etc. today and tonight and maybe tomorrow followed by a week of rain and storms chances every day. :( The wildlife refuge 100 miles to the north is closed due to flooding and the interstate highway that goes there is closed at one point due to flooding. Crazy weather. Hoping our basement doesn't flood.

Another angle of the San Simeon Pier. This composition is from the south side of the pier where I was trying to emphasis the fact that this pier does not go straight out to sea like most piers do. The San Simeon Pier has an unusual 45 degree bend or turn to the south about a third of the way out. Kind of cool.

The sea rose up in revolt against a stormy threat which paled in comparison to the blushing sands and the sea's own right to withstand the wrath of rain and wind.

Nobody expects the spanish inquisition!

[People dump furniture in the strangest of places. This was one of 2 red velvet couches that was strewn up this quiet back street between factories.]

There is nothing bether for the brain than to go out and breath fresh air, I should say cold air, anyway ;) Shooting pictures has a way of putting my mind to rest, almost as good as a full night rest... Almost ;)

Please feel free to leave comments, I always value and treasure constructive comments :)

These beautiful blooms were just thrown on the ground, just in time for me to take a snap. So sad.

The only star I was able to photograph on this beach camping trip was the sun. Even it struggled to show itself. The good news was that the rain didn't begin until the last night, making for a very wet, lush and verdant walk out.

Exhausted. So another Oregon Coast shot it is.

Another view of the California coastline. It was a pretty gray day so I included as little sky as I could (i needed some sky because I wanted to show the horizon). Having a nice foreground really helped with this image.

Taken through the viewing window at the Muscatatuck NWR visitor center. It was a gloomy day with not many visitors, but the birds kept me entertained.

Weather people are marketing 2 inches of snow for us. No evidence of outright panic in the grocery stores. Still bread and milk on the shelves. Shopping carts to be had. Just a few more people clogging up the aisles doing in-depth studies of the cereal selections and pasta sauces available.
