This little gray fox was fairly confident as she strode through our campground, even with our large crowd. It was only after I studied some of the pictures of her that I realized she is a mom - either still nursing a litter or recently having weened them. Anyway she is very pretty and I hope her boldness doesn't get her into trouble with others. We cautioned everyone to be respectful and keep their distance from her.

Some gray or Hungarian partridge feeding along a swath. They would duck their heads when a magpie, crow or hawk made it's presence known.

We went whale-watching that afternoon. Gray whales grow up to 15m long, but that's peanuts compared to the very very big Pacific Ocean. They feed near the bottom for 5-10 minutes at a time, take a few breaths (separated by quick, shallow dives), then disappear again. I was lucky to get the shots I did. Most of the time, all I could see was their spout off in the distance.

Gray Catbird mimics the songs of other birds, as well as those of tree frogs, and even mechanical sounds. Best known for its cat sound.

This frog is such a cutie! On the underside of his legs, he has some bright yellow patches that really stand out against his moist, gray skin.
