Mexican Gray Wolf at Regenstein Wolf Woods in Brookfield Zoo.

Mexican wolves were once common in the Southwest but were wiped out in the mid-1970s, with only a few of the animals remaining in Mexico. Starting in 1998, 11 Mexican wolves were reintroduced to the wild in Arizona after being bred in captivity.

Although their numbers have grown, there are still only about 300 Mexican wolves in captivity, and another 97 in the wild, according to the nonprofit Defenders of Wildlife.

Another fully zoomed and heavily cropped image - I seem to have posted several of these grainy shots recently, lol. Can never get a close shot of a Gray Partridge, though I would love to, as they have beautiful colours and feather patterns. Posting this one so that I can include it in a couple of my Sets.

This photo was taken yesterday, 13 March 2014, when I spent the whole day SE of the city again, with friends Cathy and Terry. What a slow day it was for much of the time. Took us just over 6 hours to find the first Snowy Owl - just the tiniest, distant white speck on the ground, far across a huge field. We were beginning to wonder if maybe all the Snowies had already left to fly north, so we were happy to see this one, and a second one about four hours later, perched on a distant power pole. No photo opportunities for these owls, but it felt to good to know that there were at least these two owls still in the area. We had no luck at all finding a Short-eared Owl - very different from 7th March, when we saw 8 of them, six in flight and two on the ground. In addition to the 2 Snowies, we did see 9 Great Horned Owls, though, some on nests. Weather was beautiful with some interesting clouds for part of the day, clearing much later. Some of the fields looked pretty bare, while others were still covered in snow. The "heat-wave" distortion was really bad all day long. Does anyone know if there is a way to overcome this? It makes good, clear shots impossible.

Will basic black, with a touch of red, be acceptable in public?

"Gray Men" are creatures of the Shadow; indistinct, unnoticed, anonymous.

Not tall, not short, just normal.

No distinguishing features, nothing that stands out, nothing memorable.

The high elevation of the mountain coupled with the rainy weather at the time resulted in gray clouds being predominant in the entire landscape.

I apologize for the late delay, as I had recently purchased a new laptop computer and was busy setting it up.

Also, on a related note, as I had begun editing on my new laptop as well, there might be some changes regarding processing compared to my older pictures.

India Tiger safari trip.

Our second park, Pench.

VIDEO OF MY TRIP

An impeccable place to walk down the memory lanes of your childhood days of the famous story ‘The Jungle Book’.

In the heart of India, Madhya Pradesh, Pench National Park is located in the districts of Seoni and Chhindwara. Named after the pristine River Pence which flows through the park, Pench National Park is one of the most popular wildlife reserves in India. The park also has its mention in the famous story of 1894, ‘The Jungle Book’, penned down by the renowned English Author Rudyard Kipling. The story was worldwide applauded, and hence, the national park became one of the popular national parks in the world in the 1970s and also a prominent tourist attraction in India. Since then, every year oodles of wildlife buffs flock to this place just to spot the famous characters of the book, Akela (The Indian Wolf), Raksha (the female Wolf), Baloo (Sloth Bear), and the vicious Shere Khan (Royal Bengal Tiger).

Sprawls over a massive area of 758 sq km, including the core area, Pench National Park has a rich wildlife which proffers visitors an opportunity to indulge into one of the finest wildlife experiences in India. Since its inception in 1965 as a wildlife sanctuary, the park has serving as the cosy nest of numerous wild creatures including the Royal Bengal tiger, jackal, peafowl, wild dog, wild boar, sloth bear, Indian leopard, fox, striped hyena, monkey, gaur, barking deer, four-horned antelope, Indian wolf, and more such enthralling species. However, later in the year 1975 and 1992, the sanctuary got the recognition of national park and tiger reserve, respectively.

Gray langur (Semnopithecus), also called Hanuman langur is a genus of Old World monkeys native to the Indian subcontinent. Traditionally only one species Semnopithecus entellus was recognized, but since about 2001 additional species have been recognized. The taxonomy has been in flux, but currently eight species are recognized.

Gray Jays have to be the boldest bird up here. They will go into your tent to look for food, land on your shoulder while you eat and my favorite; work in pairs to steal dog food from my dogs while they are trying to eat. One will draw off the dog while the other steals food. The dogs have yet to catch on.

This guy was taken at Wonder Lake, the reddish color behind is the blueberrie plants taking on their fall colors.

Gray is the color of intellect, knowledge, and wisdom. It is perceived as long-lasting, classic, and often as sleek or refined. It is a color that is dignified, conservative, and carries authority. Gray is controlled and inconspicuous and is considered a color of compromise, perhaps because it sits between the extremes of black and white. Gray is a perfect neutral.
