Scored a couple of boxes of Polaroid 669 that expired in 2008 for $5/box! Definitely can't find it at those prices on "the Bay"! So naturally, I loaded them up and threw the packs through my handy-dandy Polaroid Land 420 camera for some early afternoon shooting. Since the film was expired and originally a slower 75 ASA, much exposure compensation was needed to retain some detail in the highlights and yellow channel.

Acne Treatment Denver CO
We are an instant gratification society. We like immediacy. But when it comes to skin care, if the effects are instant, they are not lasting. Things that change the underlying skin condition and really transform—peeling out impactions, diminishing lines, lifting pigment—take time. And during the process, it can feel like nothing is happening. Or it may seem like your skin is actually getting worse. Don’t give up. Here’s how to gauge whether or not your skin care or acne treatment regimen is working.
Your Skin is Flaking
This is a good thing. Products formulated with ingredients that accelerate cell renewal create the exfoliation that’s crucial for generating healthy new cells, clearing impactions, lifting excess pigment, and diminishing fine lines.
Expect a little flaking. Maybe even a good amount of flaking. Possibly some pinkness, dryness, or even a little itching. That’s acclimation. And it’s the sign that your products are working. Within four to six weeks, the signs of acclimation will disappear, but the benefits will continue to grow.
Without exfoliation, dead skin cells build up they block the moisture barrier, making fine lines appear more visible, and keeping your products from delivering their effective ingredients into the deeper levels of the dermis. Your products can’t work effectively if they are not getting absorbed properly into the skin.
If the redness or irritation is excessive, you should back off to every other day or move down to a lower percentage.
Once skin acclimates, you are still getting benefit from the product, but you can push your results further by moving up to the next level.
It’s Been a Month
That’s the length of a complete cell life-cycle. Use your products in a consistent daily regimen for a full thirty days before judging your results. This allows time for your skin to acclimate, for pimples forming under the surface to be brought up and cleared away, and for cell regeneration to occur. This is why I use before and after pictures to show the progress of acne treatment in Denver and the surrounding regions.
You Tell Me That Your Skin Feels Better
If your skin has felt tight, irritated, greasy, or overly dry in the past, these sensations will go away, and you will begin to notice that your skin feels normal and healthy. With your skin properly hydrated, balanced, and free of cellular debris, you’ll feel less need to cover and correct with makeup. Your skin will look and feel fresh and revived. If you do still prefer to wear makeup, you’ll notice that your makeup will have a smoother finish and will wear better all day long.
People Notice
You see yourself every day. You may not notice the changes because they’re happening little by little. When others start seeing it, you know it’s really happening. With things like clearing acne, or hyperpigmentation, it’s fairly obvious. With diminishing lines and firming skin, it can be more subtle day to day. For those who don’t see you every day, the shift may be dramatic.
“Something’s different.”
“You’re glowing.”
“What have you been doing?”
Now, you know it’s working. New pimples have slowed down and the old pimples are going, going, gone!
Somethings are worth waiting for and clear skin is certainly one of them. Book a consultation today from the BookNow button at the top of this page and start your journey to clear skin. We offer Acne Treatment in the Denver Colorado area.

Whatever you've heard about about The Impossible Project's PX 600 UV+ Black Border films, it's probably true. It's incredibly sharp, has nice, smooth silvery tones, and even warms to a pleasing sepia color. Frankly, this is my favorite Impossible Film to date, (PX 680 beta coming in a close second).

Got this camera very cheap, but shutter was not working, and had a rotten battery on it... After cleaning contacts, and exercising the shutter it is back in business :)
byproduct of a video project for class. also, my very last polaroid. I bought some of that tz artistic film, but I think someone stole it before it was delivered to me. :(
I'm it. Tagged twice, once by Abe and once by Ian. Since I seem to be an easy target, I'm claiming this as the fulfillment of all future possible tags, so as not to bore you guys with too many facts.
Also? To make this interesting, we are going to turn it into a little game. You know the two truths and a lie thing? Well the odds just plummeted. 15 truths and one lie. Who can pick the lie?
1. I'm extraordinarily insecure and completely in denial about it.
2. I've waterskiied on the Tigris river.
3. I am the 2008 Rookie of the Year for Oregon SCCA Solo competition. This has earned me a Craftsman torque wrench engraved with my name and title.
4. I habitually search for 4 leaf clovers. It's an obsession. I'll settle for 5 or 6 or 7 (yes, I've found one of those before).
5. I enjoy cooking but I hate doing dishes.
6. I took lots more hours in College than I needed to then nearly didn't graduate for not fulfilling my elective requirements. I'm still having nightmares about not graduating. (I did graduate, for the record)
7. It occurs to me that 16 is the 4^2 and 2^4. This is how geeky I really am.
8. I have a fairly corny sense of humor and it annoys even me.
9. I just cut my toenails today.
10. I love the gratification of creating things with my hands, and that's probably the reason I love developing my own B&W film so much.
11. I hate being in front of the camera now more than I ever have before in my life.
12. I have seen snow in the middle of the persian gulf desert.
13. In the spring I'm doing a local show of my photography work. Very nervous about it, though.
14. I prefer the decorating and cooking and togetherness of the holidays to the gift exchange part.
15. I'm half Iraqi and half Texan, and I was born in Dubai, UAE.
16. I forgot to take off my belt when I went through the metal detector at airport security. I also forgot to take out my 3200 speed film :-( Apparently though it shouldn't make TOO much of a difference.
OK -- guess away!
My first ever Polaroid self-portrait. :D
It came our better than I expected it to.
It kinda sucked taking this because it was cold outside and with my Polaroid camera you have to hold down the shutter release button for like 30 seconds. [It's kinda brokenish in that way.]
I got that mask at Katsucon 2010. Is it not the creepiest thing ever? :3 I couldn't resist it.
• a form of sexual desire in which gratification is linked to an abnormal degree to a particular object, item of clothing, part of the body, etc. : Victorian men developed fetishes focusing on feet, shoes, and boots.
Same packs of expired Polaroid 669, this time at Lauren's graduation from the University of Findlay on Saturday May7th. Her whole family was there and I was the makeshift photographer for the day. Shot a ton of digital, meh, but guess which pictures everybody loved? Pack film for life!

i needed some instant gratification knitting. this, and others, will be up in the store this august or september. :)
9 months, baby! (update: that does not mean I'm pregnant (god no), just that my man & I are together 9 months :))
I got to take pictures with a Mamiya for the first time! Unpatiently awaiting the results. :) Damn you, instant gratification generation.
Got the prints back from the lab today. Nothing to write home about, but fun to not have the instant gratification for a change. It's exciting to open a package with prints enclosed.
Searchers of spirituality will most probably be disappointed with Taiwan. Its temples, no matter how craftily designed, are mostly like department stores offering instant gratification of one's otherworldly needs and duties.
Give a kid a camera! Maybe not a G12, but they love the spontaneity and of course the immediate gratification. It gets them off their little tushies and moving around. I had more fun than allowed!
Fredlock Gnegy the friendly photographer. While trying to get over my fear of people pictures, shooting Fatty Lumpkin and the Love Hogs, I chatted with another photographer. He lamented about the old "dinosaur" film giving way to digital photography. I asked him about the instant gratification of digital. He wasn't thrilled. I asked about the suspense of waiting a day for overnight processing or even one hour processing knowing the moment would be long gone. At least with digital if you screw it up there is a chance for a redo. On my way back to my seat, I stopped to watch him git down and boogie. I asked if I could show him some instant gratification. So I snapped a few and we met back at my table where I transferred the images to my phone via wifi and edited this one with the iPhone Photoshop Essentials and uploaded it to Facebook.
I explained more about the 100 strangers project and asked if I could use the image here as well. He wasn't a Flickr member, so I told him about the free accounts. I explained the unexplainable "Explore" and the many beautiful images there are but also how a picture that it would seem would interest no one might also end up in Explore with 10k views.
We parted as Facebook friends and It turns he has quite a few photos of musicians. He also used to live just outside the city where I grew up, funny meeting him at a Fatty Lumpkin concert 3+ hours away from where I grew up and finding out he was from there also. I met a stranger but I found a friend.
This picture is #5 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page
"Life depends on loyalty. To live as a human being is to accept and follow tradition. Without participation in the traditions that constitute our social world of shared habits, attitudes, beliefs and so on we would be like children fostered by wolves - dumb animals with no conception of who we are, and no goals other than immediate gratification of crude instinct. It is only because we take part in that world that we know who we are and what we want. To reject the authority of tradition is to leave that world and so become less than human." - James Kalb
- Understanding Conservatism and Tradition
- A Course Reversal? On R.R. Reno’s Return of the Strong Gods
"The so-called innovations of great men only fulfill what was there already. Washington and Lincoln acted out of loyalty to their country and wanted to maintain something good it had long possessed. Christ based his teaching on the Law and Prophets and aimed only to fulfill them. How do such men compare with men like Robespierre, Lenin and Hitler who rejected and destroyed societies they considered rotten in the name of a radical new order of their own invention?" - James Kalb
"The forms of life that embody the good, beautiful and true can't be our private creation. Our understanding of ultimate things inevitably reflects our experience and commitments. If the understanding is merely personal that is all it can reflect. To attain a tolerable degree of objectivity and reliability our ultimate standards must draw on the experience and commitments of others, and be integrated with an enduring way of life capable of accumulating lessons and reflecting them in its practices. In short, they must be part of a comprehensive tradition of life. Adherence to tradition is necessary to our ability to make sense of things by reference to ultimate standards on which reliance is justified. Loyalty to tradition is therefore - paradoxically - necessary to the reform of tradition." - James Kalb
- A threat to Europe’s beauty
"As for bad traditions, we know they are bad through other traditions. Ultimate standards of goodness, beauty and truth are too basic to isolate and study from outside. Since our relationship to them is part of what makes us what we are, they are beyond the reach of the ideals of neutrality and impartial expertise that have led moderns to try to base everything on economics, social science and formal abstractions like equality. Without involvement in forms of life that embody ultimate standards, we can't know them." - James Kalb
At Kparatao, near Sokode, we attended the fire dance. Tradition tells how the Kotokoli tribe was always feuding with the Tamerma tribe and often women and children were in the huts by the fire when fighting broke out. Not being able to escape quickly, they regularly ended up getting burned. The tribe therefore made a pact with the god of fire – thus the fire dance was born to show their respect and gratification to the god. Not all members of the tribe are able to participate in the dance, which induces a form of trance, only a selected few.
Hard work is painful when life is devoid of purpose. But when you live for something greater than yourself and the gratification of your own ego, then hard work becomes a labor of love. ~ Steve Pavlina
When you work the Jets, you report for duty at one of two sub-stations: 4848 S. State Street for Housing South (Robert Taylor Homes), or at 365 W. Oak Street (Cabrini-Green) for Housing
North.
Either way, you have to run something of a gauntlet, and it's always with some trepidation that you park your personal car, wondering if it will still have four wheels when you're ready to go home.
The Housing Officer does offer some protection from sniper fire, with its cynderblock and brick construction, but it's still advisable to stay away from the windows.
Roll-call is pretty laid-back, and only seldom requires that we fall in line, and you might as well forget about weapons inspections. You are here to make a little extra money by working your day off, pursuant to an arrangement between the Department and the Feds that allows you to wear your regular uniform and equipment, and earning your current rate of pay. It's not overtime, since you're tapping into a separate source of funds, but, compared to most side-jobs out there, it's not a bad deal.
You will have an opportunity to pick a partner, or you will be assigned one. You will also be assigned a specific location for your "building check," which means you go up to the top floor of that building and walk down, one story at a time, walking the length of each and every gallery.
You are to list each and every vacant apartment, report missing doors, light fixtures that are out of commission, and any other irregularities. If a vacant apartment is found, you are expected to clear it, and look for evidence of recent gang activity.
Often, the bathroom medicine-cabinets have been torn out, or connecting walls are simply knocked down. With a sledge-hammer and a little effort, gangbangers are able to get into the adjoining apartments. So, instead of dealing with one obviously vacant apartment, you may have two or three that are vacant and are being used by the gang as additional hiding places for drugs and guns, as look-out stations, firing platforms, and as meting places for various gang functuins: initiations and violations, as well as social occasions and parties.
Each floor also offers its own Electric Room, which houses the electric meters for all apartments on that floor, and is usually covered with a single, crawling mass of cockroaches. Similarly, the Laundry Room has invariably been trashed and is no longer usable, and the Trash Chute is always clogged with garbage, and the area around it is usually piled high with garbage bags. That is also where you'll see some of the largest rats you'll ever see.Once in a while, the chute will yield an unborn fetus or a newborn.
Usuallly, the narcotics sales are conducted at or neer the building entrance. Sometimes, they will frisk the buyer and then send him or her up to the next guy, who collects the money, and finally on to yet another guy to get your dope. During the entire process, you will be watched by armed gangbangers.
A lot of the women and girls who live in the buildings along Division Street in Cabrini-Green, complain to us that they are routinely strip-searched by the gangbangers who are on sentry-duty in each of those buildings. It's difficult to say if this practice is strictly business - to ensure that unsanctioned drugs or guns are not leaving or entering the building - or if this is done for their own gratification, or to demonstrate that their power and control over the residents knows no bounds...
Given the security arrangements the gangs have perfected over the years, there are very few opportunities for us to make narcotics arrests in any of these buildings. One way that does work from time to time, is to have a large group of officers enter the building, preferably in response to a shooting or some other real emergency. The gangbangers always count how many coppers go in, but, in a chaotic situation, with firemen and paramedics going in and out as well, chances are they will not have an exact count, and they'll usually relax when all police vehicles leave the area.
If two or three officers manage to escape detection, they then wait until the "all clear" is sounded, before walking down to the floor where the drugs are stashed, or being sold. Needless to say, such tactics carry a higher degree of risk for the officers who participate in such "hide and seek" missions.
If you have to hit a specific apartment, with or without the benefit of a search warrant, you'll need some officers to watch the windows from outside the building, since that's how they'll dispose of their dope and guns, to be collected by one of their assiciates. If you have neglected to take that precaution, you'll be watching from above as your evidence walks away...
* * * * * * * *
To be continued.
This photo shows once of several buildings that remain of the ABLA Homes complex. These medium sized buildings - located near 14th & Loomis - are among the few that remain of whatr once was the second largest public housing development in Chicago, surpassed only by Robert Taylor Homes in papulation.
Got a pack of slightly expired Polaroid Sepia 1500 from The Impossible Project NYC space and wanted to test it out. And since shooting 3000 has been so difficult for me with my Polaroid Land 420 camera, I just threw the film through the Hasselblad 500C where precise metering and exposure could take place. LOVING the results!! ^__^
P.S. If you're interested in purchasing any of this awesome film, hurry up and do it ASAP! This film was supposed to be completely sold out, but TIP may have a few boxes lying around.

This is truly horrendous. Reminds one of those old-style inflatable fuck-dolls that only total losers and poor people would use for a bit of self-gratification. In fact, it's a mannekin that was used in a nurse's training college to help the students get to know about the ins and outs of the female anatomy.

Migration is coded in our DNA from ancient times… ask the Monarch butterfly. We are built to move… ask the wildebeest. We migrate as the prey or the predator… the zebra and the cheetah will know. Sometimes, we swim across continents… like the great white shark; sometimes, we rather fly… like the Siberian crane. Yet, migration feels alien. Ask yourself. It feels restless to be on the move. Lack of roots terrifies at times. Hence gratification comes easy at that tiny corner of the wilderness beside a placid lake that one may call his own… a place to belong, to sit back and ponder. Ask my soul or the bluebird above.
PS: The background, for any of you worrying to sickness, is the lake... my lake placid.

i'm beating monday blues with a blue bias!
i'm starting my very first polaroid week with a big bang! my only shot taken in expired 669 peel apart film with a land 450 camera that bon viv was so kind to lend me yesterday. the camera is here, can you spot it? hint: it's bigger than my face ;)
this was taken at gas works park, on a beautiful sunny sunday afternoon and i hope you'll get to see a few different versions from my friends, too!
oh and i have no clue who that guy is, i was only trying to get the plane in my shot while keeping the camera straight and he walked right in like a timely spectator.
here's one other perspective from the same camera
I think one of the biggest enemies to the human condition is the lure of instant gratification.
I see the signs of this where I work. I've been with the same company for 13 years, and in that time I've witnessed the shift from quality to productivity firsthand. People haven't changed, but what we're expected to accomplish - and how quickly we're expected to accomplish it - has changed. Dramatically. Profoundly. Has it made us better or faster? Well, yes and no.
As a company, we process lots of work. Our productivity scores reflect this. Every morning, I receive an email from my supervisor listing me, along with all the other designers in the company, showing how many hours of work I processed yesterday and how many hours she's assigned me for today. This way, we all get to compare each other's productivity, just to see how we stack up.
What this doesn't tell you is how often we've had to email someone else with questions because they handed you instructions they hadn't bothered to understand themselves. It doesn't tell you how many "corrections" you had to make because someone really didn't bother to explain what they wanted.
In other words, the wheels of productivity are turning along happily, but the belt that drives the engine is slipping. The wheel is technology. The belt is the employee. And the employee is on information overload, expected to keep up with changing technology, corporate downsizing, stagnant wages and increased productivity demands.
All owing to that lure of instant gratification. Faster, more and sooner. Now, please.
What does this do to us, over time? Does it change who we are? Does it change how we think? Does it change the value we place on relationships when everyone, including ourselves, is this expendable?
I think it does. You can see so many examples of it. People really aren't all that different than they were fifty years ago. But our toys have gotten faster and stronger than us and in some ways more powerful, so the damage our toys can do has become greater and more costly. And the unforeseen byproduct of demanding this shift in the marketplace has been a change in the way people treat each other at home.
Let's face it, instant gratification is a shortcut. We have always been enticed by shortcuts. But they often spell failure. Do you want instant wealth? Buy into this moneymaking scheme. Do you want quick weight loss? Pay for this surgery. Do you want to dull the pain inside you? Take this pill, have a drink. Are you lonely, needing to feel connected to someone? Sexual passion will make you feel desirable again.
Any gardener will tell you that if you don't prepare the soil properly, plants may spring up quickly, but at the first sign of bad weather, they die. Their root structure, the part which keeps them nourished and healthy, never had the time to develop. And while they look good on the surface, the story beneath the surface is very different. Those plants aren't going to make it; they aren't going to produce a good harvest.
And just so, the bubble will burst on the moneymaking scheme. The person who lost all that weight will have developed little discipline to keep it off over time. The pills and the drink will be used frequently enough to affect other areas of your life. And the sexual passion will do little to lead you to real intimacy with your partner, where you can depend on them without feeling weak, or speak to them honestly about the hidden places in your heart.
Wow, no wonder people are so depressed and dissatisfied. How would we be otherwise? We've been so betrayed by this pipe dream. You too can have it all! Trust us!
What a crock.
Think about this for a minute. When we seek instant gratification, what are we actually asking for anyway?
Think about those emails you get everyday at work. How many do you delete unread? How many do you scan? How many do you take the time to read for comprehension? My guess would be very few.
So why do we use the same behavior at home, skimming over the details of our lives? What does it gain? When we don't take the time to process our feelings, deal with old hurts, listen to our hearts and build our connections to each other, aren't we treating our own lives with the same disregard? What is the impact of this but shallow, dishonest connections with your own insides and shallow, dishonest connections with others?
So goes instant gratification. Quick fix. Long term failure. It acts like an illicit drug, providing temporary relief without nourishment.
A friend of mine once asked me what I wanted for myself and my future. The temptation in me was to outline a five- or ten-year plan that went something like: career advancement, get the house finished to my liking, love, marriage, family, etc. But when I really thought about it, I realized that none of those things really summed up what I wanted for myself.
I want my actions and my lifestyle to reflect my beliefs. I want to act on my beliefs more often. That's what I said to him. Because I felt then and now that actions speak louder than words.
I tell that story because identifying the ills of instant gratification doesn't correct them. I can't change the corporate culture in which I work. So here's the thing. If I dislike the failures which accompany a life seeking instant gratification, complaining about my company isn't going to accomplish much. But resisting the lure of this pattern myself may just accomplish a lot.
And the only way to avoid the pattern is to allow myself some time. Not a timetable, but time - to stop skimming through my life and start listening to my own feelings and desires so that I understand them.
Because if I prefer intimate relationships to idealized fantasies, I should learn to be healthy for myself and the people in my life. I should also seek honest relationships, and not just something to solve the problem of loneliness. No single person - friend or lover - should bear the pressure of being my everything. I can be a better friend than that. A better partner. A better lover. And so can anyone else.
With time.
Time is something I'm learning to appreciate. It's my new weapon against past mistakes. And future ones.

A modern, yet cozy interior inspiration board I made for an impatient client using polyvore.com. The details aren't great with their system, but it's fast and provides instant gratification.
There's only so many spots you can go to in Sydney for iconic shots, but there are even more ways to capture each view.
I've run out of iconic views to shoot in Sydney but getting practice on these spots with the composition, timing, colour etc is still worth getting up for.
That's how I justify taking shots of these spots again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again when really, honestly, the main motivation is that I just want to shoot, and mostly I don't care what it is as long as I get that instant gratification all over my LCD.
Instant reward.
Don't even care if I use the photos.
Actually more concerned it's annoying my contacts lol
I got another one of these tonight from the vending machine at work. Gosh, think of all the time and trouble this racist went through to make this offensive stamp, and then stamping and defacing money.
Hope this gave the despicable troll some sense of gratification and made his worthless, big fat ZERO of a life under the bridge, worth living for just a fleeting moment. Gah!
