We harvested approximately 14,000 pounds of organic Bartlett pears in the orchard across from this vineyard! Portland Fruit Tree Project trip, September 1, 2012.

There are two kinds of grapes on the vines. Too early to tell what kind they are yet. These are the oval ones, there are also round ones.

Although at first glance it may seem that I have inherited the gene that makes me photograph everything before I eat it, (like the penguincakes do), I actually posted this to talk about the restaurant. I didn't get any good photos of the restaurant because I'm lacking in skill and experience when it comes to photographing rooms, so this will have to suffice.

The Grape Gallery is a small restaurant which Jeff (Erin's dad) took us all to. It's in Roleystone on Brookton Hwy near the corner of Peet Rd. Jeff, who has eaten at many fancy restaurants around the world insists that he has never been disappointed with a meal here, and he's been eight times in a couple of months since he first dined here.

This is the dessert that Erin had while we were there. I'm not remembering what it was called, but she insists that it was a toffee cake with butterscotch sauce. It was most delicious! It also turns out that it was gluten free - much to our surprise.

Unlike many restaurants that you might go to in Vic Park or Leederville, here you are served by the owner, and not some teenager earning $8 an hour. He's very friendly and accommodating. His wife makes all the desserts, which were all fantastic. All of the mains were great too!

I would recommend The Grape Gallery to anyone who lives out down the South West corridor.

The Grapes of Wrath were a Canadian folk rock band, who were one of Canada's most successful pop bands in the late 1980s and early 1990s before disbanding in 1992. With the band name tied up in litigation, most of the band continued to record through the 1990s as Ginger. The Grapes of Wrath briefly reunited for one album in 2000, although not with their full original lineup. The original three members reunited in July 2010 and have indicated that they may continue to perform as a group.
