Artwork was inspired by marble "David" statue by Michelangelo Buonarotti. Idea is: From under the dirty surface of the stone, which is removed by the hand of the sculptor, pure marble and the ideal lines of the human body appear. The figure of white marble, but it is as alive, ready to breath and move. A perfect man, who's ready to protect and love.
Photo was made in Gothic style using black, red, white colors, also has a Renessaince romantic touch.

The Gothic Temple at Stowe National Trust, captured between a couple of trees. The sky was quite boring; hence the reason for converting to black and white. Going high key has brought out some of the clouds.

The town hall of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck is one of the most famous Buildings, It is one of the largest medieval town halls in Germany.
This is an old building, circa 1876 that can be found a little further up the street from the previous photo. I believe it is still being used as a chest clinic, but started out as a college.
The building extends a little further to the right, but there is a tree on the right hand side of the image that i couldn't work around, without taking a less interesting 'straight on' shot. I may try a different angle at a later date, but i like the composition here..

Christchurch is beleaguered with bare vacant sites following a series of devastating earthquakes. The city has been exploring possibilities of temporary architecture to inspire, provoke and advance the range of projects that can be undertaken on vacant sites in Christchurch.
The Arcades Project is a series of decorative arches that serve as a pedestrian throughway but also a destination for markets, shops and other temporary structures along both sides. .
This elegant gothic arch design by Andrew Just is placed on the site of the former Crowne Plaza Hotel where they form a highly visible walkway from Victoria Street into Victoria Square and have already influenced thinking about the future development of that site.

An icon from my home country of England.
Located at the north end of the Palace of Westminster, a masterpiece of Gothic Revival architecture, built in 1859.
More commonly known as Big Ben, its official title being the Elizabeth Tower, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.
The original architect for the clock tower was Augustus Pugin, not Charles Barry who designed the Palace. It stands 96 m in height.
The Palace of Westminster as a whole has been a Grade I listed building since 1970 and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.

In the church St. Marien (St Mary's) in the small town of Strasburg, northern Germany.
The church was built in the 13th century, but saw extensive reworks in the 15th and around 1450 the whole layout of the church was changed, and this vaulting made with bricks was made.
When we visited the town, the church was actually closed, but you could ask in the Tourist Office next door to be let in - which they happily did. Well worth it too, because it was a lovely place. (Unfortunately my camera back then had some trouble with the darkness, so most shots did not turn out that well, but I liked the result here. Another shot of the church can be found here:

Set in one of the world's most famous landscape gardens, this quirky gothic folly at Stowe in Buckinghamshire is now a holiday cottage. It has a spiral staircase, roof terrace and is surrounded by vast parkland to explore. The gothic windows provide vistas of the monuments, lakes and temples in this 18th-century landscape.
This temple, built in 1741, was one of the last additions to the garden at Stowe, formed for Lord Cobham by Charles Bridgeman and his successor, William Kent. That same year, Capability Brown arrived as gardener, to begin his own transformation of the landscape.
Eternal Look
The artwork was inspired by the Gothic style, while processing the effect of an old film was made to show the depth of time and the mysticism of the moment. The Gothic mood has a veil of sadness, closeness from light and sun, inner strength, most often dark.
We all have two sides.

As I walked up to this old schoolhouse a man was working in the garden. We got talking and it turns out he was a Queenslander who bought this old school at auction not long after it was closed in 1999. He and his wife had come over for their usual summer holidays, and after the border closures were declared found themselves spending the whole winter here as well. He kindly let me look around and take this photograph.
I think I found the perfect spot for my composition. As soon as I saw this I thought of Emily Brontë's great novel "Wuthering Heights". All that gothic sensibility on the Yorkshire moors. The tree, the Victorian building and the light just made a black and white the logical choice.
This schoolhouse was built between 1875 and 1877, and it was the first state school in the area. We have already seen the earlier St John's School. It was put up for sale after being closed in 1999 because of low enrolments. www.visitross.com.au/interactive-map-of-ross/

The cold blast is over, but memories will remain. A blast of cold weather from the East left everything under snow again and with plenty pretty wintry scenes. This picturesque cottage built in gothicised style in 1831 and thought was designed by Edward Davis. It was formerly known as the Park Dairy. This Botanical garden.
