Avro Lancaster I. The Avro Lancaster is a British four-engined Second World War heavy bomber designed and built by Avro for the Royal Air Force (RAF). It first saw active service with RAF Bomber Command in 1942 and, as the strategic bombing offensive over Europe gathered momentum, it became the main heavy bomber used by the RAF, the RCAF, and squadrons from other Commonwealth and European countries serving within the RAF, overshadowing its close contemporaries the Handley Page Halifax and Short Stirling. The "Lanc", as it was affectionately known, thus became the most famous and most successful of the Second World War night bombers, "delivering 608,612 long tons of bombs in 156,000 sorties."
The Lancaster, an evolution of the troublesome Avro Manchester, was designed by Roy Chadwick and was powered by four Rolls-Royce Merlins, or, in one version, Bristol Hercules engines.

Mittelwerk V-2 Rocket. The V-2 rocket was a ballistic missile that was developed at the beginning of the Second World War in Germany, specifically targeted at London and later Antwerp. The liquid-propellant rocket was the world's first long-range combat-ballistic missile. Beginning in September 1944, over 3,000 V-2s were launched as military rockets by the German Wehrmacht against Allied targets during the war.
The attacks resulted in the death of an estimated 7,250 military personnel and civilians while 12,000 forced labourers were killed producing the weapons. British intelligence leaked falsified information implying that the rockets were over-shooting their London target by 10 to 20 miles. This tactic worked and for the remainder of the war most landed in Kent due to erroneous recalibration. The first photo from space was taken from a V-2 launched by US scientists after the war on October 24, 1946.
No more endless painting. The bridge now has a special coating to protect it and should last for 30 years give or take a week or so.

Google's own property, YouTube, not supported in Android ( No Flash support, none ever planned either ). Weak!

If my ISP throws a wobbly and I lose my WiFi connection at home, it's great to be able to connect my laptop via my mobile operator with the WiFi Hotspot app that comes with Android.
It's a pity Vodafone's 3G network always seem to be at dial-up speeds, but its better than nothing :-)

This model of a Scotch malt whisky distillery was designed by James Risk, Scottish Malt Distiller's General Works Manager, assisted by George Cruikshank of Linlithgow Distillery. It was first exhibited at the british Empire Exhibition, Wembley in 1924-25, then it was lent to the Science Museum, London where it was displayed from 1926-48. The Lycoming T55 is a turboshaft engine used on American helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft (in turboprop form), since the 1950s. It was designed at the Lycoming Turbine Engine Division in Stratford, Connecticut as a scaled-up version of the smaller Lycoming T53. Both engines are now produced by Honeywell Aerospace. The T55 also serves as the core of the Lycoming ALF 502.
