The Carlisle London Road Goods Depot as it hasn't been seen for many a year. The site has been totally cleared of vegetation and tree growth and the later addition of an awning with asbestos roof on the front has been removed. The structure is listed, but what its future is to be remains to be seen, but possibly incorporated into the encroaching residential estates.
Carlisle London Road railway station, located on this site, was the first to open in Carlisle. It was built as a terminus of the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway and opened in 1836. When the Lancaster and Carlisle (L&C) Railway reached Carlisle in 1846 it used London Road station as a temporary measure before the opening of Carlisle Citadel station. The Maryport and Carlisle Railway also ran some trains to London Road until 1851, after which its trains ran to Citadel. The Newcastle and Carlisle was amalgamated with the North Eastern Railway (NER) in 1862 and passenger services to London Road ceased. London Road continued to operate as a goods station for the NER (Later LNER and BR) and this building dates from around 1881.

HEAVY CLOUDS OVER TASSAGH VIADUCT NEAR KEADY CO ARMAGH
The viaduct was completed in 1910, bridging the Callan River Valley.[1] It was originally part of the Castleblayney, Keady and Armagh Railway, though services to Castleblayney were ended in 1924 and from 1932 onwards,[2] all trains across the Tassagh Viaduct were goods trains to and from Keady- It was at this time that the nearby Tassagh Halt closed. The line had been taken over by the Great Northern Railway (Ireland) shortly after opening.[citation needed]
Final closure of the line and viaduct came in 1957. In December 1976, Tassagh Viaduct became a Grade B listed building.[3]

Not many peeps will be aware that there was such a facility to the west of the main station back in the 60's! Also, visible on the left the original platform 1 - disused now. 45017 is making good progress with an assortment of stuff behind and has "Back stix off". Is that a nuclear flask beind those box wagons?
Once an everyday sight, a J27 heads a pick-up goods train through the rural North East.
Very much reminiscent of the last pick-up goods from Malton to Coxwold and Kirbymoorside on 7th August 1964, which just happened to be hauled by non other than 65894, at the time allocated to York.
Newly restored and painted in the LMS livery, Stanier designed '5MT' 4-6-0 no.5428 'Eric Tracey' brings the goods train through Goathland Station.

this is a common way of transporting produce and goods around the philippines using the venerable workhorse, the jeepney. the jeepney is usually fully laden with cargo up to the roof. the men hanging on to their dear lives are the labours or porters, sometimes they maybe just friends who want to hitch a free ride

Two more shots from my first shift in several months at Salop Goods.
It's a cracking spot.
No wordy text this time just details of two trains that turned up on a steady Saturday afternoon,
Another one I used to sort out at Speke Junction, 6L48 is car empties from Ford’s compound at Garston back to Dagenham Dock. Its return empties of imported Ford cars and vans.
The loco has been recently been put back in service by GBRf after many years out of action. It seemingly still hasn't settled down following its overhaul, indeed it had to be rescued in the very recent past when it failed, and it's not yet earnt its stripes such that it's let out on it's own. In recent weeks the loco has been accompanied by a class 66 on the pointy end acting as insurance. Whilst the 92 is providing the power In this shot what you can't see is that 66760 is hanging on the back of this lengthy train.
92020 leads 6L48 the 14.08 Garston Car Terminal to Wembley (truncated on this date) with 66760 out of shot hanging on the rear of the consist.
