St. Michael was the patron of the small Dutch harbor-city Harlingen. The tower is at the Voorstraat, on the corner of the Raadhuissteeg. It is the backside of the town hall.

The image shows the characteristic textures of concrete (at the left), built in the end of the 20th century, and the stone wall (at the right) of a late 19th century house-facade. The concrete at the left has been poured in wooden forms, you can see their imprint.

The location is the street Plantage-Middenlaan, close to the city-center and right on the corner of Artis Zoo.

The window is of a basement, where a century ago many families frequently lived in humid conditions.

Amsterdam photo of an construction site - A covered building site with rusty iron construction to strut the old brick-stone facade of an old building. The option is to integrate the neoclassical style architecture facade in the much bigger front of a new-coming hotel at the street Sarphatistraat. I hope this mix will succeed.

I like the transparent texture of the building fence which create a strange kind of light. And it allows to see many things of the constructions behind.

To me this is a urban still-life of fast graffiti. One, or maybe two anonymous creators responding on each other?

Location was a side-street of the P.C. Hooftstraat.

Amsterdam photo of street-art - A colorful and remote wall-painting in the heart of Amsterdam city, behind the PC Hoofstraat. Probably the wall-art was made circa 2015, becasue he looked very fresh and the colors were still very strong and expressive. The location is an almost hidden alley between the street P.C. Hooftstraat and the side of the park Vondelpark.

I like very much the wonderful and free play of the dark lines in the wall-painting (surrealistic). It is overdone, but very mysterious.

Amsterdam photos, street-art and light - A man on the bike and a wall-writing of the famous Dutch, and mainly Amsterdam, street-artist Laser 3.14. Location is in the city-center at the canal-street Keizersgracht.

The image is also full of shadows of the young, small leaves and the trunk of the trees along the canal. It is mid-Spring!

I really love that play of light and shadow in the sun-light. I also love the story of the picture; it is very typical for the old city Amsterdam and its many house-renovations in the center.

The strange thing of Laser 3.14 is that his wall-poetry lines frequently move through the whole city, for many years already. As a whole or parted in pieces. Because the wooden construction-fences travel to another pit when the job here is done.

Amsterdam photos, urban outdoor art - A group of bronze sculptures at the square Rembrandtplein in the center of the city. It was a rainy day in Spring, with only a few interesting tourists.

This sculpture group imitates the famous painting of Rembrandt 'The Night Watch'; it is a very favorite spot for tourists to picture it or themselves between the figures of the sculpture. Watch the blinking extended hand of the head-man, used many times a day. Also the little light-shining girl of Rembrandt is in this sculpture group.

Amsterdam photos, street-art - A reflecting graffiti-tag on a wooden wall of an remote alley, in the heart of the city center.

The body of this street-art piece is the green-wooden color of the wall. It works perfectly! Location is between the street P.C. Hooftstraat and the park Vondelpark. Ik like very much the subtle reflections in the silver line of the wall-tag. I recognize three human figures in the tag, but also the letters.

Amsterdam photo of a street-sign - A picture of a brick corner, with a crayon writing on the pavement in the streets. It was a few days before Dutch Kings-day, in April. Then the streets are full of signs and writings which express only : Occupied (Dutch: bezet), it is a way of reservation by the children, they want the location for their selling-place.

Here it is Resa who claimed this spot, in April (bricks with their grainy texture are a good place to write with white crayon).

Location: along the Prinsengracht - opposite (so the other side of the canal-water) to the Anne Frankhouse.

The gentle shadows comes from the branches of the trees - still without any leaves because it is too early Spring for them in Dutch April.

I heard some wrestling in the leaf litter. Low and behold, these two alligator lizards were going at it. Neither were able to do damage to the other. Both stopped fighting and began breathing more calmly after putting each other in a lip lock. I promise, neither were dead or hurt. I watched them for about 20 minutes.
