I hope the next generation don't have to live through a pandemic..I hope everyone gets safely through this one..
A beautiful piece of Norway not too far from where I live, about 40 minutes by bike / car and a popular fjord and destination for those who have a boat in this area.

...to move forward is one I will never regret, because it means i continue to reach and grow....and to learn what I am made of.
I am stronger than I ever thought and happier now...even with the unknown always looming ahead of me. Learning to trust myself was worth all I have been through. There is no other option, but to move forward....and hopefully my friends will always be behind me to give me a shove in that direction when I falter! FYI: I have the best friends in the whole world:)
So happy to have my electrons back. I had a moment of near hyperventilation last night when I deposited all my fun shots at the tracks into my Mac.....and then Mac had what amounts to a stroke....or a really bad RAM fart or something and totally shut down. Each time I tried to revive him, he got worse....until the dreaded blue black screen of death appeared. I closed him up, and promptly made an emergency appt with my genius guys for this morning. My genius guys were so happy to see me....until they heard the sad news. After a thorough exam, my genius of the day, excused himself to the back room....I thought to shed a private tear, maybe. Actually, he went to talk to head honcho Genius guy....and they reached a decision that Mac was beyond help....and so they are giving me a new baby...who will not be named Mac....because that would just be wrong! They decided that because Mac has been in so much to the hospital there....all for similar/same issues, I will get a brand spanking new one with a brand spanking new 3 year Apple Care warrantee!
I am smiling to the point that I sparkle!
Electrons are home to roost....internet and phone are back....not sure about the cable, but I don't watch TV anyway....and now a baby Apple coming to live with me ....yep, life is good!

New Year's Day, Planet Earth, 2007
Today, beginning, we take
our first steps into whatever
comes next, we open our hearts
to life and faith, we find
courage , we hold it out
to others
with the kind of compassion
that comes only
from having lost, or never
having known ...
we look out from
interior worlds through
handprints on the glass
we see behind us
know there is more
find the seed of
acceptance, somewhere
deep
inside, or maybe
it was planted
by one who loved us
long ago or only
just this morning
when the sun
rose
like it always
will
we go on
into the day
into love
into wonder
into joy
we go into our future
as if there is
only this
wonderful
world.

We're all on this journey called life each one of us is on our own path and though there are similarities each persons walk is different.
I love going for walks in our woods or in the conservation area down the road. As you're walking down a path the landscape changes, you go from wide open spaces where the sun shines brightly, to closed in areas where you can't see much beyond the thicket, to areas of marsh, areas of tall hardwoods and riverbanks. You get a different perspective from each change in the landscape and I like some areas better than other areas.
Our journey through life is somewhat like walking one of these paths that change as you walk forward. There are times when all is going smoothly, we know what we want in life and we know where we're going. The kids are healthy, you're healthy, your husband has a job, the bills are paid, relationships are good, etc. But then you get to those times when you can't see so clearly, when the fog has descended and life becomes uncertain. Life can change in an instant, what you have today could be gone tomorrow…how will you move forward when that happens. For me that's when I realize and know deep in my heart that my security in life can never fully come from what I have…from the good things in this world. Though the blessings be good, it is in the giver of those blessings where my deepest security must be found. He has given me so much and I am so thankful and yet if the day comes when some of these good things are stripped away, it is my deepest prayer that I will cling tightly to Him, knowing He is my anchor.
Life is one day at a time, one step at a time…always moving forward. Not always knowing what is around the next bend in the path but risking to step forward even into the unknown or into the tough painful times of life.
ONLY A PERSON WHO RISKS IS FREE
by Author Unknown
To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach for another is to risk involvement.
To expose your ideas, your dreams,
before a crowd is to risk their loss.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To believe is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken, because the
greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The people who risk nothing, do nothing,
have nothing, are nothing.
They may avoid suffering and sorrow,
but they cannot learn, feel, change,
grow, love, live.
Chained by their attitudes they are slaves;
they have forfeited their freedom.
Only a person who risks is free.
Photo-Blog for Char.
"Love as many people as you can . . . then you've got something to show." ~ Gloria Estefan
Dear Char:
You wanted my encouragement for writing, but then you write things which inspire me to write back.
These are photos from grade school on. I have hundreds. My friends threw theirs out; but I've kept them to remind me of how many people come into my life with care and kindness.
They also remind me of Gloria's line, "Love as many people as you can."
The lyrics to this song by Gloria inspire me too . . . in loss, it is so easy to become isolated. She puts this so beautifully from the start of the song. But the song is about cherishing each day, not looking back and finding hope for the new relationships and love we can still find before the last day. It's all here.
This song works whether a person is sixteen or seventy.
I recall the first crush and how those things always turn out . . . the first dates, directions one hopes life will take and it takes another instead . . . I recall the person I THOUGHT I would marry, but elected to say fare-thee-well to in my best interest. Loss in my youth . . .
This stage of my life brings new loss, but also new gains.
You have beautiful goals now, because just like Gloria, you see a direction you want to continue taking: To be as beautiful in spirit as the mother you lost. As the song says, this will lead you to be, still, infinitely better. You are on the right road. Walk on.
Keep your hope and keep writing. Writing doesn't have to be published to move us into the next chapter of our lives and heal the spirit.
"Love is perennial as the grass," someone once wrote.
Without breaking confidences, I know plenty of online readers who have challenges of loss and I know that people read writing - even though they do not comment - who need your message. Your writing is doing something with your life, just as Gloria's lyrics suggest.
You've been hit especially hard, but you have so many gifts that inspire.
Don't quit. You also have a gift of sharing your heart.
Everyone has a special gift, even when they cannot see it. Sometimes we need to be reminded of this. You have that gift toward others too.
Writing is also the "power at your command".
Keep writing ... published or not. Keep sharing it too.
Savor each moment of this day.
And thank you for the love you've brought into the lives of so many, including me.
Blessings my friend.

For Hurricane Relief:
No matter what is thrown your way. I'd say patience, tolerance, just being able to face tomorrow is a true virtue. The thought is first excited anticipation, then dread, fear/courage, hopefulness, then despair... a worthy effort to face the new day head on and tackle the unknown without giving in. No one can do it for you!
Next is the waiting... Patience - believe me, I've never prayed for patience because you learn patience - it's not a gift. But I'm going to acquire it whether I want it or not!
Another of my fishy images ... a different area for me!
I loved taking these and I was amazed at some of the results. Some areas
were too dark, no flash was allowed and the lens I had on just wasn't fast
enough resulting in fishy blurs.
Getty Editor, if you look at the one I submitted ... there are a few more in

Although I am usually moving forward, I find it important to look back.
Maybe it is because Jim Henson got into my subconscious as a child? :
The Wiseman from Labyrinth,
"So, young woman, the way forward is sometimes the way back."
Mini tripod from RTF was placed on the back window ledge in my car.
I then hopped from the back to the front and looked in the mirror toward the camera.
This was taken in a driveway, to avoid hopping around in the street.
(The only edit was a crop.)
Tomorrow is my last day of playing with mirrors for a week.
Time to think of some other theme to amuse myself with.
The Old and The New being put together. I work in a telecommunications company and one of the accessories we have is this old telephone handpiece which you can attach to any mobile phone. How funky is this!

I mainly popped back to Smethwick Rolfe Street Station this time to check out the new mural painted on an archway.
I initially went to the wrong platform, so had to exit the station, but was a maintenance vehicle on the pavement, and had to walk onto the road to get to the steps to access the other platform.

Do you read the blurb on the back before you open a book?
This one on a Haringey report was a fairly accurate summary of the contents.
I am not really into pictures of me...and I could on and on about what I dont like about pictures of me..but really this is who I am and how I look and I dont really see that changing too much...
