The path of life...
We're all on this journey called life each one of us is on our own path and though there are similarities each persons walk is different.
I love going for walks in our woods or in the conservation area down the road. As you're walking down a path the landscape changes, you go from wide open spaces where the sun shines brightly, to closed in areas where you can't see much beyond the thicket, to areas of marsh, areas of tall hardwoods and riverbanks. You get a different perspective from each change in the landscape and I like some areas better than other areas.
Our journey through life is somewhat like walking one of these paths that change as you walk forward. There are times when all is going smoothly, we know what we want in life and we know where we're going. The kids are healthy, you're healthy, your husband has a job, the bills are paid, relationships are good, etc. But then you get to those times when you can't see so clearly, when the fog has descended and life becomes uncertain. Life can change in an instant, what you have today could be gone tomorrow…how will you move forward when that happens. For me that's when I realize and know deep in my heart that my security in life can never fully come from what I have…from the good things in this world. Though the blessings be good, it is in the giver of those blessings where my deepest security must be found. He has given me so much and I am so thankful and yet if the day comes when some of these good things are stripped away, it is my deepest prayer that I will cling tightly to Him, knowing He is my anchor.
Life is one day at a time, one step at a time…always moving forward. Not always knowing what is around the next bend in the path but risking to step forward even into the unknown or into the tough painful times of life.
ONLY A PERSON WHO RISKS IS FREE
by Author Unknown
To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach for another is to risk involvement.
To expose your ideas, your dreams,
before a crowd is to risk their loss.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To believe is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken, because the
greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The people who risk nothing, do nothing,
have nothing, are nothing.
They may avoid suffering and sorrow,
but they cannot learn, feel, change,
grow, love, live.
Chained by their attitudes they are slaves;
they have forfeited their freedom.
Only a person who risks is free.
