Mini Series: Downtown
This series was photographed in March 2018. Ben, an old friend of mine, was in Maryland for work. He was helping set up and manage a new shop in Columbia. He had never been to Maryland before and asked to meet up. I had never personally been to Ellicott City before, but my parents were married there. They told me it’s a rustic town that I would love photographing, so I asked if Ben would check it out with me. The area we explored sits in the woods with a creek/river running right through main street. We roamed downtown - the bridges, alleyways, abandoned buildings, parks, and the old train station. It was a quiet and mysterious place, like a setting Ben or I used to write about when we exchanged our fictional writing to each other. The town floods frequently and many places were boarded up, but we did find some really neat antique shops and enjoyed exploring this dreary, ominous city.
My first trip to Niagra Falls! My mother, sister, nephews and I received our passports to visit and stay on the Canadian side. It was cold and icy in the mornings, but something about the chill and dampness of the mists made this place all the more mesmerizing.
We spent an entire day exploring underneath, around, and alongside the Niagra River. We took the Journey Behind the Falls, ventured to the Niagra Parks Power Station, we visited the Butterfly Conservatory (another first!), saw
the Floral Showhouse, and lastly the Bird Kingdom.
The view from our room was unmatched. Falling asleep and waking up to the falls each morning is a memory I'll never forget. The falls are marvelous and it is a place where photographs do no justice. You truly have to see it to believe it.

Queenstown International Airport is one of the more hazardous (and thus awesome) commercial airports in the world serving large jets. There is only one runway which parallels two mountains chains on both sides that rise over 10,000ft above. The approach brings you in over Kawarau River that winds through the mountains. Once you turn left on final approach, you are met with a short 5,800ft runway, with no parallel taxiway. So when you land, the pilot makes a u-turn and taxi's back to the terminal while still being on the runway.
One of the things I'm going to do more of this year is take more time out to do the things I love the most. Photography and travel
Coastal impressions.
