Just a simple candid street style Snapograph taken at London UK of a guy with his Guitar & Microphone doing a bit of street playing.

My touring bass rig (had more basses, just didn't take them out on tour)... It was all stolen a few years later (out of my house no less). I've since replaced most of the stuff. This pic was taken at a small club Grog Shop in Cleveland Ohio, prior to playing a show with Matt Beckler while out on tour opening up for Kyle Gass of Tenacious D's band Trainwreck.
Gear:
Warwick Dolphin Pro I - 5 String
Godin Acoustibass
SWR SM-400S Head Unit (the good stuff before Steve Rabe left)
SWR Goliath III 4x10" Cabinet
Fulltone BassDrive Overdrive Pedal
DOD 830 Series II EQ (which wasn't even used near the end, too much noise).
Boss Half Rack Flanger (never really used either)

What’s Cookin’… (free with collection), www.whatscookin.co.uk/wchome.html, Part of “Peter O'Brien's Birthday Extravaganza” (O’Brien who had turned 75 produced the 70s/80s music magazine Omaha Rainbow and more recently has emerged as a singer/songwriter).
Country: Britain. Style: Americana.
Lineup: Wes McGhee (v/g), Ian Bartholomew (g/cajón), Al Stewart (tenor sax/soprano sax), John Gordon (b), Maurice McElroy (d).
Back in the 1990s Wes McGhee was a key part of the British Americana music scene. I saw him at the Weavers and the Borderline with his own band and backing touring acts he had befriended on regular trips to Texas like Kimmie Rhodes and Butch Hancock. After that he was around much less often, though I was at gigs in 2003 and 2006 at the Verge and then the Luminaire of McGhee with Terry Clarke (someone else who seems to have disappeared) rather than a band. Since then I have only seen him sitting in with touring performers like Wanda Jackson (2006), Ponty Boone, Tish Hinojosa, Freddie Krc (all 2007) and Kimmie Rhodes (2008). Apparently he has been restricted by health problems, but plans to get his old band together again next year. This gig was originally billed as a duo one with John Gordon, but most of the old band were there with him. They played a couple of new songs, but most of the set was his material from earlier days: “Monterrey”, “Train Time”, “How do we get there from here”, “Whiskey is the Driver”, etc.
In this photo: McGhee plays a Godin a-series nylon string electro-acoustic guitar.

Part of Africa Utopia / Friday Lunch (free event).
Country: Kenya. Style: African / Soul / Jazz.
Lineup: Maia von Lekow (v/g/djembe), Thibault Remy (g), Winston Blissett (bass g) Paul Zimmerman (d).
Maia von Lekow has a mixed heritage. One quarter Kenyan Arab and one quarter Kenyan African (Rabai who are one of Mijikenda group of Bantu peoples from the coastal area) from her father's side - he is the singer Sal Davis (Salim Abdulla Salim). One quarter German and one quarter Italian from her mother's side. Brought up in Kenya, she lived in Europe and Australia before returning home in 2007. She sings in Swahili, English and other languages. Her influences include Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerlad and singers from many different parts of Africa. Here she was joined by London based musicians rather than her regular band in Kenya. I took a photo of one of them, Thibault Remy, playing bas with Los Chinches (to view click on his name in my tags).
