Following up on yesterday's post, the Deyrulzafaran Monastery on the Silk Road near Mardin, Turkey, was erected over an ancient temple from ~7500 BCE built by a pre-agricultural civilization of hunter-gatherers in the Tigris/Euphrates river system. It was a site of worship for the Mesopotamian sun god Shamash. It is a rather claustrophobic low ceiling space with an unmortared stone block ceiling. The tiny window in its eastern wall was placed to let in the first rays of the sun every morning.

Side story: While I was taking pictures of this church, the church guard approached me and said that no one is allowed to take photos since this church is a private organization. I failed to understand the reasoning behind why a church that is in full view to the public is not supposed to be photographed. Anyway, since I had already taken some pictures, I didn't argue and just left.
This church is called The Mosaic Church which is located in the north east wing of the Pasadena City Hall.

Celebrating 40 Years of Star Wars! There's no doubt that the story of Star Wars has impacted and inspired generations and the story will continue. I thank God for allowing Star Wars to grow and bringing people of all types together through it. More thanks goes to George Lucas for carrying out his vision for these films and to the present Lucasfilm company for honoring the fans and exploring Star Wars in new ways.
I plan to release a new photo every day under the 40th Anniversary tagline until I find a good stopping point. I apologize if I fall behind due to a busy schedule.

I am not a religious person but when I come across something like this and my heart skips a beat and my breathing becomes short, in these moments, I feel like falling to my knees in gratitude.
I love grain and grit and geometry and cracks and shadows and texture and graffiti, and contrast, especially when they are all rolled up together in one luscious package...

Being Atheist is a misnomer. I am an atheist.
It was one of those moments which you can never recreate it was a piece of God's artwork spread across the canvas of the morning sky waiting to the captured. It was my luck to have been there an to have experienced such greatness. I have since then woken up early every time I have gone on a diving trip to capture sunrises but have not had anything that comes close to this.
