I will blow your mind

Salvation involves a change in the relationship between God and a person. Salvation includes God’s adoption of believers into his family, his acceptance of them as righteous and his forgiveness of their sins. It also includes personal renewal and transformation through the work of the Holy Spirit.

19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton: Standard Bible Society, 2001), Eph 2:19–22.

Merry Christmas to you all and thank you for your nice comments and favs. God Jul!

We went to the Lock and Dam at Starved Rock State Park in Utica Illinois. Its where all the eagle go when the river starts to freeze over. We saw about 25 or 30 eagles today. The guy at the Lock and Dam Visitor Center said they had upwards of 60 Bald Eagle out there yesterday.

God bless Texas. And for once, and I never thought I'd say this, God bless Governor Rick Perry.

From governor.state.tx.us/news/press-release/12227/

----------------------------------------

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today joined state Rep. Brandon Creighton and sponsors of House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 50 in support of states’ rights under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

“I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Gov. Perry said. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”

A number of recent federal proposals are not within the scope of the federal government’s constitutionally designated powers and impede the states’ right to govern themselves. HCR 50 affirms that Texas claims sovereignty under the 10th Amendment over all powers not otherwise granted to the federal government.

It also designates that all compulsory federal legislation that requires states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties, or that requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding, be prohibited or repealed.

HCR 50 is authored by Representatives Brandon Creighton, Leo Berman, Bryan Hughes, Dan Gattis and Ryan Guillen.

God Bless America

God, bless America,

Land that I love.

Stand beside her,

And guide her

Through the night with a light from above.

From the mountains

To the prairies

To the oceans white with foam,

God, bless America,

My home, sweet home.

God bless America

Land that I love

Stand beside her

And guide her

Through the night with a light from above

From the mountains

To the prairies

To the oceans white with foam

God bless America

My house sweet house

God bless America....

My home sweet home!

America, America, America, America

O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain

For purple mountain majesties above thy fruited plain

America, America, God shed His grace on thee

And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea

O beautiful for patriot dream that sees beyond the years

Thine alabaster cities gleam undimmed by human tears

America, America, God shed His grace on thee

And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea

While the city of Pittsburgh has become somewhat of a Rust Belt success story over the past fifteen years or so, outlying areas like Rankin, Braddock, and Duquesne have fared far worse. The city of Duquesne has lost sixty five percent of its population since the closure of the US Steel, Duquense Works in the 1980s.

Today, Duquesne has the lowest performing school district in the state and thirty four percent of the population is below the poverty line.

Bad Spirits! No room for You in our Land.

How to practice the Responsibility of Freedom: the Balinese Way.

Once a year (but be warned: according to the Balinese calendar!) young people meets and - after a very joyous body-painting - they walk through dozens of villages - where people is expecting them.

Why?

They parade, singing, shouting, playing. Addressed to the whole Universe: "This is our land! Evil Spirits away from here!"

Through rice fields, forests and rivers. For hours and miles. They stop every once in a temple and pray.

"This is our land! Evil Spirits away from here!"

You would say: "folklore" - "primitivism."

But better to know that in Bali, the first day of the year (again according to the Balinese calendar!) three indications are strictly complied with:

- no fire

- no walking

- no working

plus one:

- Silence.

And, for 24 hours, the streets are deserted, no flights in or out!, all the families at home.

Why?

There's an explanation: this is the day when the evil spirits are coming flying over the island. They see it deserted ... and they go where humans - taken from their activism - are not realizing what is happening, and let Bad Spirits enter in their villages, in their houses, in their hearts.

An example of a very powerful Bad Spirit? Greed!!!

Can you imagine something like in your country?

Can you imagine the power of 24 hours of silence...

24 hours with no TV, no Internet, no cars, no work, no planes, no politicians, no advertising, no newspapers, no thieves (in every village, for some urgencies you are authorized to move, of course, but a self-organized village guards pay attention to movements from special places called Bale – a rotten-built small house you can see in every village).

Look at their faces, look at the beauty of being aware of the personal and collective responsibility to be free!

To guarantee a balance between taking and giving - with the environment and among men - is the key of the Balinese spirituality in every day life.

That's why they smile and look at you in the eyes every time they meet another human being.

PS: “Thank you” in Indonesian is “Terima Kasih” - they say in Dictionaries.

But the true translation is: “To Give, To Receive”!

The thursday before father's day we had a really bad storm come through my part of texas. We has had straight line winds from 91 to 115 miles per hour. They were as strong as category 2 hurricane. After the storm over 250,000 people where out of power, some still don't have power. I thank all the people that have helped with restoring services, opening up cooling shelters, making sure everyone that needed it had access to food, water and a place to get out of the heat. Last friday started a heat wave that saw the heat index reach over 115 degrees. Line workers from all over the country have come down to Texas to help us recover and get back on our feet. We thank you all so much for what you have done!

Alabama - Forty Hour Week (For A Livin')

"Forty Hour Week (For A Livin')"

There are people in this country

Who work hard every day

Not for fame or fortune do they strive

But the fruits of their labor

Are worth more than their pay

And it's time a few of them were recognized.

Hello Detroit auto workers,

Let me thank you for your time

You work a forty hour week for a livin',

Just to send it on down the line

Hello Pittsburgh steel mill workers,

Let me thank you for your time

You work a forty hour week for a livin',

Just to send it on down the line.

This is for the one who swings the hammer,

Driving home the nail

Or the one behind the counter,

Ringing up the sale

Or the one who fights the fires,

The one who brings the mail

For everyone who works behind the scenes.

You can see them every morning

In the factories and the fields

In the city streets and the quiet country towns

Working together like spokes inside a wheel

They keep this country turning around.

Hello Kansas wheat field farmer,

Let me thank you for your time

You work a forty hour week for a livin',

Just to send it on down the line

Hello West Virginia coal miner,

Let me thank you for your time

You work a forty hour week for a livin',

Just to send it on down the line.

This is for the one who drives the big rig,

Up and down the road

Or the one out in the warehouse,

Bringing in the load

Or the waitress, the mechanic,

The policeman on patrol

For everyone who works behind the scenes.

With a spirit you can't replace with no machine

Hello America, let me thank you for your time...

Merry Christmas to all friends on Flickr :)

This is the memorable and ironic view that greets every motorist traveling south on I-75 towards downtown. Thousands of these motorists are surely suburban GM workers on their way to work every day, and the irony of this chance alignment is hopefully not lost on them. In the background, the Renaissance Center, Detroit's tallest building and GM World Headquarters. In the foreground, St. Josaphat, a 105-year old still-functioning relic from Detroit's heyday. Detroit is the Motor City, but the sins committed here cannot be forgotten or forgiven--from the hundreds of murders every year to the construction of a freeway system that divided and destroyed vibrant and working neighborhoods. Hopefully this image will one day have different associations.

For me, it is a powerful view that is quintessentially Detroit. I'm sure it's been photographed hundreds of times, but the balance and contrast between Detroit's largest and most infamous glass skyscraper, a struggling community church, and the freeway that cut a swath across the city and acted as a runway for white flighters provides me with endless fascination. I hope you will find it equally stimulating.
