Habitat: mountain ridge; almost bare and flat, stony, calcareous ground; full sun, strong winds swept place; average precipitations ~ 1.100 mm/year, average temperature 10-12 deg C, elevations 440 m (1.450 feet), Sub-Mediterranean phytogeographical region.
Substratum: soil.
Place: Adriatic Sea, island Krk, Mt. Obzova ridge, near Mt. Veli vrh, Kvarner archipelago, Rijeka region, Croatia.
Comments (pertain to pictures in Flicker album Crataegus monogyna): Genus Crataegus is taxonomically a difficult one. Plants are extremely variable in all their morphological traits. For example, even the habit of the species Crataegus monogyne, can vary from very low bush (see Fig. 20 – 24 taken on island Krk) to few meters high bush or even small tree (other Figs. taken on island Olib). In his time Carl von Linné recognized nine species in this genus. Three of them were later assigned to different genera. But around the beginning of 20th century the number of described species exploded. In America more than 1.000 and in Europe about 500 different taxa were published (Ref. 3). In his revision of genus Crataegus Christensen (1992) described about 60 taxa in the Old World. For a purpose of a better overview, all these taxa are organized in several sections and subsections, but different authors did this on different ways according to their understanding of the terms species, subspecies, variety and form. So, the situation is completely 'unmanageable' for an amateur botanist.
Nevertheless, all plants shown here have flowers with a single stigma, so they must be somewhere close to Crataegus monogyna. Also both references Nikolić (2004) and Milović (2016) state presence of this species and no others for islands Olib and Krk. This make me pretty sure the determination is correct.

Senadores conversam com os jornalistas sobre os trabalhos da CPI da Pandemia. Nesta quarta-feira (6), está previsto o depoimento do diretor-presidente da Agência Nacional de Saúde Suplementar (ANS).
Senador Rogério Carvalho (PT-SE) diz que o relatório da CPI deverá ser "contundente" e amparado em um "conjunto probatório consistente" para demonstrar crimes de responsabilidade que teriam sido cometidos pelo presidente da República.
Sobre o depoimento de hoje, Rogério diz que o presidente da ANS tem muito a explicar sobre as denúncias relacionadas à Prevent Senior.

While in Medford, Oregon we met Executive Chef James Rustin at Porters Dining at the Depot. What a delightful creative young man.
Since the pears were at their peak, Chef Rustin decided to prepare a light tasty pear treat, Porters Poached Rogue Valley Pears Panna Cotta. Or, at least it tasted light. James has done a terrific job with Porters menu and the atmosphere of dining in an old train depot is just plain fun.

Our GLOG post of 12-8 was for Gogi's Restaurant located in Jacksonville, Oregon and their pumpkin flan. As we mentioned, Chef Gabriel Murphy runs the kitchen and Jonoah Murphy runs the front of the house including the bar. This post will feature Gabriel's Holiday Martini that he developed for us. The entire Hill team enjoyed this--it was like a dessert. It is Norm's favorite.

Glog (znanstveno ime Crataegus) je zelo razširjen grm oz. nizko drevo, pri nas visoko navadno do 5m, drugod pa lahko doseže tudi 14m. Raste v Evropi, severni Afriki in zahodni Aziji. Glogi so morfološko in ekološko zelo raznolik in za botanike zahteven rod. V obdobju opisovanja novih vrst na osnovi najmanjših morfoloških razlik so na primer samo v Severni Ameriki razlikovali 1100 vrst glogov. Pozneje so število vrst močno zmanjšali. V Evropi raste približno 20, v Sloveniji pa 3 vrste glogov.
Glog je ljudem znan tudi kot beli trn, glag, glagon, enovratni glog, gloginje, glogovec, glozje, gložje, medvedove hruške, itd. (eeee, medvedove hruške , zakon :D)

GLOG: D + … Below average
The problem was I couldn’t find anything interesting to drink on the menu. It was too cold for lemonade, limeade or beer and nothing on the wine list appealed to me.
This is the first time I had glog that I remember, so it gets a slightly higher rating because I have no comparison. However, the recipes I’ve read on the web indicate it is more than this – basically hot water and booze.
There was a tea strainer with some sort of mixture. I let this steep and steep … and steep … still the glog only tasted of water and alcohol.
It came with honey to sweeten it. This was great honey. In fact it is my second favorite honey in Guatemala. I know the source because the flavor was so unique. Adding it to the glog didn’t help the drink and it was a waste of good honey.

La Unidad de Suministro de Combustibles (USCOM) es una de las subunidades fundamentales dentro del Grupo Logístico (GLOG) de las FAMET (Fuerzas Aeromóviles del Ejército de Tierra), con una presencia clave en la Base de El Copero.
⛽ Misión y Cometidos de la USCOM
La misión principal de la USCOM es garantizar el abastecimiento ininterrumpido y seguro de combustible de aviación (Jet A-1) a toda la flota de helicópteros de las FAMET, tanto en la base como en operaciones desplegadas.
Tareas Clave
Abastecimiento de Aeronaves en Base: Es la responsable de repostar los helicópteros de las unidades estacionadas en El Copero (principalmente el BHELMA IV) en sus plataformas o hangares.
Mantenimiento y Control de Calidad: Se encarga de la recepción, almacenamiento, y el riguroso control de calidad del combustible para aviación. Este control es crucial, ya que el combustible debe estar totalmente libre de agua e impurezas para evitar fallos en los motores de las aeronaves.
Apoyo a Despliegues (PEN y FOB): La USCOM juega un papel vital en el apoyo logístico fuera de base:
Puntos de Elevación y Enganche (PEN): Proporciona combustible y munición en zonas avanzadas y temporales para las operaciones.
Bases de Operaciones Avanzadas (FOB - Forward Operating Base): Despliega y opera equipos para establecer y gestionar depósitos y puntos de repostaje en el teatro de operaciones.
Equipamiento
La unidad está dotada de medios especializados para el manejo de grandes volúmenes de combustible:
Camiones Cisterna: Vehículos especializados para el transporte y repostaje directo de aeronaves.
Puestos Fijos de Repostaje: Estructuras permanentes en la Base de El Copero para la recarga rápida de aeronaves.
Equipos de Filtrado y Control: Utilizan equipos de alta tecnología para asegurar que el combustible que llega a los helicópteros cumple con los estándares más estrictos de limpieza y calidad.
El Grupo Logístico, del que forma parte la USCOM, se encarga del apoyo logístico integral de todas las FAMET, incluyendo también el mantenimiento de los sistemas de extinción de incendios, la visión nocturna para el vuelo y otros apoyos esenciales.
