My son Rob and his girlfriend, Sophie, took some of my family on a wonderful evening out to see the Enchanted Woodland Walk at Syon Park in west London. Each year for the last two weeks in November to early December they dress up the trees with illumination that rivals Blackpool!
Despite some minor defects (they could do with more sound) the event is excellent. I’d recommend anyone who can get to Syon Park to try and get there. It really is magical. You can find out more about the event here… www.enchantedwoodland.com/
The photographs in this set are the ones I took to try and capture some of the atmosphere. Inevitably, some work better than others. The viewer should bear in mind that apart the lighting of the trees and the effect of the lights on the various subjects, it’s still very dark!
I will put individual comments on to those I like more than others. Overall I’m pleased with what I took, though the use of a tripod might have helped on some of the pictures. Sometimes I had to rack up the ISO to get a shutter speed that was capable of capturing a shot. Even then some of the shutter speeds were slow. All of the photographs were taken ‘handheld’ and no use of a tripod was actually made.

So: It comes to this. I was tagged, yes, by The Basso Kid.
Here we go:
1. I know the picture is lame lame lame, but I just spent 45 minutes trying to get a half-decent shot of myself & gave up completely.
2. I am turning into an obsessive-compulsive cleaner.
3. I haven't let anyone see my right foot bare in about 6 months.
4. That cardboard in the photostrip? It's the box for one of my new bookshelfish things which a pulled a bajillion muscles trying to get home.
5. I love gym class. I'm taking it for the second time & soon we are doing archery!
6. My friends have to tell me frequently to stop being a camera geek.
7. When I go to see Kate, rather than walking around the block like a normal person, I climb through her backyard because I live right behind her.
8. I have so many rolls of film lying around I can't figure out which ones are shot or not anymore.
9. The way I described what I wanted for my haircut last night was "Dykey enough so that the boys will stop hitting on me."
10. Goldfrapp has been on repeat in my CD player now for about 4 hours.
11. I'm obsessed with Doctor Who .
12. I don't want to grow up.
13. I get along with people 5+ years older then me & 1- years younger then me the best.
14. My bag usually contains: brazil nut butter, makeup bag, a small container of pills, a couple rolls of film, my yellow pleather wallet, loose papers, pencil case, glasses, an extra set of earrings, and lemonade flavoured lube.
15. I can't stand not speaking my mind, which is why I try to avoid family & formal affairs because I would have to be polite & restrained.
