Driving from Skardu to Shiger Valley on a cold January evening for a dinner at Shiger Fort with friends, I had to stop enroute to absorb this beautiful sunset. The red glow of the setting sun and its reflection on water was something out of this world. Let me admit, this picture is no where near the scenic beauty we saw and all I could say was Alhamdulillah and press the shutter release button.
PS: The Shiger Fort was closed till 15th March, we couldn't wait so we came back to Skardu for dinner.

The following uploads are a series of 11 images I took, mostly from inside the public minibus while travelling from Gilgit to Skardu in May 2009. The scenery was breathtaking and for a lot of the way the road runs high up above the Indus River. The journey took 7 hours and was quite exhausting because of the state of the road - but well worth the effort.

Its been a year and half since i went solo to Gilgit-Baltistan. Missing those huge rocky mountains, the harsh noise of water stream flowing downwards crushing rocks, cloudy weather giving impact of an old horror hollywood movies and the roadside hotel where i had tea.
You always make memories when you travel, it could be related to either anything physical or the aura of the place.
