Another image from my weekend in Salisbury and what a place to spend day or two.

As a photographer I found this place totally fascinating - filling up the whole of the day albeit I was knackered by then.

This is vitually untouched by editing and I left the shutter open for as long as possible to reduce the effects of the the crowds.

I could have reduced the iso to 100 to squeeze another 30 seconds.

Top Gun. Hot Shots. Call it what you want. It's just that we RULE the skies with suave and killer poses... :P (NO PHOTOSHOP EFFECTS)

-- I used 10seconds timer here so I could join the shot..it's me wearing red shirt and with messy hair :)

Toronto's fourth annual Scotiabank Nuit Blanche engaged audiences in a massive participatory celebration of contemporary art. Building on the success of past event's interactive art projects, the concept of audience participation was taken to a whole new level. The public literally became the art they had ventured out all night to see. New interactive tools including the Night Navigator iPhone/Blackberry app and My Night itinerary encouraged everyone to share pictures and schedules, tweet, text and talk to each other as they explored the city well into the wee hours of the morning.

with a new flash that can fire 2 consecutive flash (1st and 2nd curtain) as a feature, i tried to do a shoot of multiple me with the cam on the hotshoe. but i just can't get the ghost effect with it and decided to hold the flash and manually fire whenever i move. Exposure was set at 10 seconds, gives me enough time to move to pose for 3 shots

There's two sides of everyone.

A moment more - and the vision of her began to grow dim. By slow degrees, the figure, then the face, faded back into the shadowy appearance that I had first seen. The luminous inner light died out in the white mist. The mist itself dropped slowly downwards - floated a moment in airy circles on the floor - vanished. Nothing was before me but the familiar wall of the room, and the photograph lying face downwards on my desk.

This is all one exposure. No trick. No photoshop. Well... maybe there's a trick. But the trick is knowing how to use your camera (and looking at a lot of photos from creative people, because else wise I would have never thought of it).

Equipment: Camera. Tripod. Shutter release.

This exposure is about 18 seconds long in a room lit by a ceiling fan. What I did was, first: Set the camera to the highest aperture that I could (so that it's in focus). Second: Turn it to bulb mode. Third: Begin the exposure. Fourth: Halfway through I take the lens cap, put it over the lens (to keep light from coming in, which would create a streaked look when zooming) and zoom the lens in as far as I can. Then I take the lens cap off and leave it for another nine seconds and stop the exposure. Now you know.

You might want to give that a try sometime.

People often feel like no one sees them when they suffer from depression and anxiety. The focus is on the backpack, showing the social views that her work is more important than she is.

Inadequacy of gadgets, accessories and even model can push oneself to creativity and more of "self portraits". In my week 3 of project 52, i decided to try further the use of strobist technique. With an off cam flash and a remote on hand, i decided to pose for the shot, triggered the flash manually and then leave the scene while the 2 seconds shutter is still open. Thus the strobist - ghost effect was created....by accident or trial and error if i may say also!

I know what you're probably thinking: "This is a pretty crazy/scary photo!" Also: "Wow, Nick has a really big head!" And I would have to agree with both of those thoughts completely, whether it be meant in a good or bad way. This definitely was NOT my original idea for the outcome of this photo, but I actually ended up liking it a lot more than what I had planned. This is not 2 photos merged into one as most people I'm assuming will think. This is actually me standing right against the dart board, 1 shot. Somehow I managed a ghosted version of myself with the flashes I had going off below and in front of me with a long exposure, but everything else in the image came through strong and clear. Pretty nifty result in my opinion! I hope this picture doesn't give you nightmares now. Watch out for your own ghosts.

view big please

this is not a very good picture. you can hardly see me.

i haven't been feeling too well lately. but then again, i never do, do i?

it's been almost two years since i've sat down and had to count to 30 seconds to make sure it got me and you still can't even see me

ENG - That's another one from my ghost photo series. In this case, my roomate Moog had to stay in each place for a third of the total exposure time (approx. 8 sec).

FR - Dans ce cas-ci, mon coloc est resté à chacune des places pendant le tiers du temps total d'exposition (approx. 8sec).

ENG - That's one of my ghost photo series. For this one, the principle is simple: My roomate had to stand there for half a second, the only time I needed to "flash" the spotlight. I had my shutter opened for 8 seconds.

FR - Un effet fantôme plutôt facile à faire, il suffit de faire flasher une lampe de chevet devant mon coloc pendant la demi-seconde où il occupe la scène.

The model is covered in a sheet, suffocating under the Depression. Her inner self (ghostly effect) is trying to rip free but just like a ghost, does not have the capability.

I was playing wiht my S3 ... recently. I always wanted to take such a picture... but I am not quite sure how to do "the ghost thing" properly.

Settings were like this:

ISO: around 60 -70

Shutter Speed: 25 sec

Aperature: 5.0

I took the picture and counted to 10, then I ran and sit on the bench and after 10 sec I got up walked away slowly... Does anyone knows how to get rid of this "smudges" from the left side of the picture? (of course it's a little bit Photoshopped) but the real ghost effect is made by me with my camera.

this was taken... whilst working, during a few minutes break. i really enjoy going to work in this place because it's in the middle of nowhere away from london's hussle and bussle.

i've set the SLR at f22 (13" exposure) and then went to stand behind the christmas tree with my little sony camera ready to flash so i could be on the shot as a 'ghost'.

The balloon "we are in love" describes the intimate relationship between an individual and their depression and the concept that it's as hard to let go of it like it would be to let go of a lover.

The two faces aren't as clear as I would have hoped, I apologise. This image represents being torn between two personalities: the mask she puts on to satisfy others and the other face- her true, broken self when she removes the mask.

Chris and me at 1 in the morning. We were trying to shoot a cover for our Christmas EP, but this was all we got.

I thought that this wouldn't happen in Ubuntu...

So I am using Ubuntu Feisty Fawn, and the latest version of Firefox 2. I was trying to refresh a youtube page so I can get sound working, and then firefox crashed. I was playing Neverputt at the time, and I moved the window around and this happened.

It only ever happens in Firefox. Why?

I designed the artwork for this ages ago, and now I got mine, best thing my drawings have been screen printed onto. definitely.
