Halloween keeps getting bigger and bigger every year, with many even going so far as to say it's their favorite holiday of the year.

This holiday is unique in that it's essentially celebrated for an entire month instead of just one day.

The anticipation of the big day "stacks the deck" and Halloween is the Big Winner.

Haunted houses, or haunted attractions, pour gasoline on the fire to the delight of thousands of thrill seekers.

But how did haunted houses get started to begin with?

Some will tell you the first USA haunted house was Disney's Haunted Mansion which opened in 1969. Others credit Knott's Berry Farm which opened in 1973.

But the actual first ever USA haunted house/attraction was three years before Disney, with Mutilation Mansion in Detroit suburb Madison Heights, Michigan in 1966.

A youth community group known as the Jaycee's were the pioneers of this genre. They threw a few tractor trailers together, and painted spooky stuff on the trailers as best they could. The scares / gags were simple and basic, but the results were highly dramatic and a new form of entertainment hit the scene in Detroit.

Word spread quickly, and Jaycee's in Wisconsin and Ohio soon enough had their own tractor trailer haunted houses.

Fast forward to 2024, and we find that Detroit is still number one in haunted attraction mania.

Many hundreds of haunts have come and gone, but one relatively young haunt keeps on WOWING THE MASSES. Hush Haunted Attraction first hit the scene as an add-on to an automotive business.

It was an instant sensation, and soon enough they expanded as they bought a former entertainment complex Skateland West. They converted the property as needed, erecting a brand new main building with plenty of room to expand.

To survive as long as Hush has is enough proof they're on top of their game. The artistic / production values at Hush are through the roof! These pictures can simply not convey the unique dynamic experience of going there for yourself, so consider these images to be your own personal invitation!

I met up with Dianne to train some Rally and Joyce came so she and Dianne could work on water retrieves at the pond nearby. I followed with my camera for some pictures and had to keep moving because of the tall weeds around the waters edge that blocked most of the cameras views.

Trying to get nearly 60 people in order is not an easy task then on top of it all the location is darker than one would think ohh and the ole "we don't have that much time" thing. This group was loose though, good people, a fun bunch.
