this is my little nest right now. It's the only place that never ceases to allow comfort for this very pregnant body. I can see I am starting to get my "gonna have a baby very soon" chub in my face.

just the right light shining through

On the way back from my friend's house a week or so ago I realised that for once I was early for my train. Rather than wait for 20 minutes at the station cold and bored out of my mind I decided to grab a half at a nearby bar.

On trying to enter I was in a fortunately positive mood as the bouncer ID'd me. I thanked him kindly for knocking eleven years off my life , showed him my passport, observed his rather shocked expression and walked in. At the bar I was regarded with deep suspicion but they decided to sell me a half a lager anyway.

With only 20 minutes I decided to take some long exposure pictures of the crap flashy disco lights. After five minutes of enjoying myself yet another bouncer approached me and told me to put my camera away or leave. I told him that I was taking pictures of the lights but it was manager's orders. I put my camera away and left.

At the time I was in a good enough mood not to care but since then I have been rankled by this a little. I'm not a fan of this trend of stopping people taking pictures , it's leading somewhere bad.

I guess he thinks mom is being weird again ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Clearing The Mind

Some days you just have to get out and be alone. Yesterday was one of those days for me. I was stressing out over something that happened (still happening). I was getting very agitated and just wanted to be alone so I went out and decided to go for a drive for awhile. I saw the light was turning into the Golden hour as I was driving and decided to go find this one spot on the hill in Burbank that I visited last year around the same time.

The hill grass was getting very tall this time of year coming into Spring and the sun was in the right light and soon setting so I experimented taking a few photos of stuff up there. I liked this one for some reason. There are a couple of others I will be posting soon that I liked too.

There wasn't much happening yesterday. It was way too cold for this Florida boy to ride the trike, so, I thought I'd take a little trip up to the Laurel highlands and check out Cole Run Falls. I was hoping there would be some snow by the falls because we saw some up neat the top of the ridge but no such luck. I did however get this shot of the falls that I rather liked. Hope you feel the same.

Well yes that's the question

When Aiko suggests that we need a break and something nice to eat, he stops

Licks his mouth while watching me

He makes sure that I'm seeing him

Whenever he sees a picnic table like this, he jumps upon it, ready for omnoms

So mind you, all you picnic people out there, that puts your food straight on the table.....

There are dirty paws on the table

Spiders you can't see

Lots of other stuff you don't even want to think of is there too

Yup, down the hatch

So here he is on the table

I'm obviously too slow to understand him, or respond

So he is now begging for treats

And in my head he is praying too

You know that it's important that you think positive when you're looking at the stuff you are about to eat or drink?

That's the same as giving it a blessing

Your body will respond with joy and say Yippi; I'm going to have this lovely piece of food and devour it with good conscience

You are giving the food a good energy by thinking positive and we need good energy when we are eating and drinking

We need a good atmosphere both outside our body

And inside

It's pretty logic really

And you need to focus

Don't surfe too much on social media or deep dive into newspapers and books when you are eating

You eat way too much when you do that, because you aren't aware of your body's signals

We really don't need much, if you dare thinking about it

And, yes

Positive thinking works for chocolate too

I have tested this many times

lol

If you are having bad conscience because you are thinking that you don't deserve it, or it's not healty enough for you or whatever, you will add negative thoughts and negative energy to what you are about to eat

All the good stuff that is inside your food is wasted by this kind of thinking

So quit that

Think positive even here

It's so important

Call it bless the food if you want

I call it thinking positive

"This is good for me"

Enjoy your next meal with this in your mind if you want, I can guarantee that you'll feel better and maybe you don't even feel for taking more on your plate

soon enough we can go out and enjoy our lives.

25 today :)

I saw it in doing a horrid overnight getout until 6.30am which wasn't so good! Also my 1st anniversary of Flickr Pro, so this is an alternate take on a favourite picture.

Severn Bridge, Gloucestershire.

Nikon D40 & Nikkor 35mm DX F/1.8

This guy has such a marvelous coat

It's the softest there is

And he has loads around his face and especially around his neck

It works like the best pillow ever

I had to take quite a lot off, he normally doesn't like it

But now he obviously thought it was quite lovely

Today we have 25C, I'm definitely not built for this heat

And neither is my King

I'm not complaining tho, I just adapt

We walk in the evening and do little outside when the heat is on :D

Aiko is walking on water๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’ฆ

It has been two good weekends of hiking. Last Sunday saw a return trip to Silver Star Mountain in southern Washington. If you have never been there, let me tell you two things about it: it's totally beautiful and awesome, and take a vehicle with modest clearance or the drive up is going to suck.

I went up with my hiking pal Josh who has a Jeep. It handled the rough road no problem, but it was sort of akin to being in a boat on a stormy ocean. His new dog didn't care much for the drive and showed his appreciation by throwing up all over the back seat. And I do mean all over. But that was remedied easily enough by the three napkins Josh keeps in his jeep for just such an emergency, along with large handfuls of ferns.

Not to be deterred by a little dog vomit we bounced along up the road to the trailhead. On my previous visits I had always walked the old forest service road to the top. It is a perfectly satisfactory way to reach the view at the top, but rather than do the same route a third time I wanted to try out Ed's Trail. It sounded interesting.

It was.

Mostly in the beautiful sense. Ed's Trail skirts along the steep face of the ridge as opposed to the road which runs along its much wider top. So you have some splendid views... you also have lots of open space immediately to one side and down. Not an issue for me, but it turned out one of our group had a latent fear of heights. Mostly he soldiered along, refusing to look down. But we reached this one spot on the trail that forced you to clamber up this near vertical rock face for ten feet or so. He didn't like that part so much. In fact it was quite a struggle for him. We reached the top of that part and the trail winded up into a small patch of trees (the top of which you see here) which seemed to help reduce his fear of heights. Which was good because then the trail climbs up another rock face, this one about 15 feet high. Josh's dog did an admirable impression of a mountain goat and we all made it relatively easily to the view at the top, this view here in fact.

I hauled out my Pentax 6x7 for this hike and only took the 45mm for it. I so love that camera (I used it again today). Unfortunately mine is getting up there in the years - it looks much older than it is too, so it is not as steady or reliable as it used to be. But man, I love this camera. If you don't know the camera, it is easy to dismiss it as being a bit ridiculous looking. Like a 35mm SLR given steroids. But when it comes to making photos, this camera knows its stuff. The glass is beautiful. The operation surprisingly easy for such a large device. Sure, the mirror sounds like a cannon firing, subtlety is not a word it knows. But for landscapes, I miss carrying it around with me everywhere. Blast you Hasselblad! :-p

So yes, it has been two really good weekends back to back, both in terms of places enjoyed and cameras used.
