After a day of shooting in Northwest Michigan on October 20, I made my way back to Illinois on Sunday morning. St. Joseph is one of the lighthouses on the western shore of Michigan that I had never visited before, so I took a small detour to head out to the park to break up the drive home. The cool conditions from Saturday continued into Sunday as did the very high wind off of Lake Michigan. Waves at St. Joseph were probably 8 foot, often washing over the catwalk leading out to the two lights. The photo gives a good perspective of the size and strength of the waves looking out to the light from the shore.

I have been playing around with some of the Art Filters on the E-M1x and RAW Data Edit. This photo is SOOC using the Dramatic Tone II Art Filter.

I headed out this evening as the storms were popping up here in central Illinois. This handheld hi-res photo of sun light shining through the storm cloud was taken south of Mahomet, Illinois just as the storms were starting to fire up this evening.
I put these two photos together to show this animal in the real light vs. increasing the exposure to see it better. Notice in the natural light and shadows how much his body blends in with the dappled shade on the red sand. I had never realized before just how much their pattern blended in like this until I was trying to track one that my friend already found and it was literally 5 feet away in dappled shade. Gila monsters are the only venomous lizards in the United States. Their venom is a sort of advanced saliva that they chew into their food to help subdue and digest it.
As found on the southern shores of a flooded Lake Ontario looking north towards Toronto.

Evening photo of Park Shore area in Naples. I really liked the mirror like look of the water in this image.

I missed when the actual front moved through the city, but I was able to capture some nice wispy clouds weaving through the buildings of downtown Buffalo, NY. Image made with my Olympus OM-D e-M1 mk2 and the m.Zuiko 12-40mm f2.8 Pro lens. The cloud movement comes from using the Olympus Hi-Res shot that stacks 8 exposures into one 80mp RAW file. So the base exposure was 1/30th, but that means the shutter was open for about 1/4 second and these clouds were moving pretty fast off Lake Erie. Processed in On1 Photo RAW 20.1.

Xylocopa latipes, the tropical carpenter bee, is a species of carpenter bee widely dispersed throughout Southeast Asia. As its name suggests, this bee inhabits forests in warm tropical climates and constructs nests by burrowing into wood. It often makes long deep tunnels in wooden rafters, fallen trees, telephone poles and the like, but is not found in living trees.
