Today was my first trip over to Cataract Falls south of Cloverdale, Indiana. The park has two falls, an upper fall and a lower fall, as well as an old covered bridge on Mill Creek. Despite fairly low water flow, overcast skies and a lack of foliage, it was still worth the drive. Both falls are visually very interesting, but the lower fall was easier to find a good view to photograph the fall given our limited time there. This photo of the lower fall was shot on a tripod in the Hi Res mode of my E-M1iii. To get the 10 second exposure, I used a 6 stop Nisi ND filter and a Medium GND filter.

This was shot in Prague, near the Old Town Square. At one end of the square is the magnificent, gothic-style, Church of Our Lady Before Tyn. The present version of this church was built in the 14th century. On the day I was there, the square was very crowded and I saw these nuns making their way toward the church. I thought the moment would be interesting, but realized the square was too crowded for me to photograph the nuns near the church. I settled for their approach. And so this shot reflects what I think may have been their first glimpse at the square and the church. How powerful to have such faith and to see a magnificent structure such as this...

Pot dispensaries are the norm now. I don't partake, so I've never been inside one. I hear it can be quite the experience, and what's sold inside inside isn't your Woodstock grandma's pot.

I woke up at 4:30 to catch the morning light at a different location. That spot turned out to be a bust for me, but I caught this magical scene on my way home!

Tech Specs: 3 shot HDR made with my Olympus OM-D e-m1.2 with the m.Zuiko 12-40mm f2.8 Pro lens and NiSi CirPL filter mounted on my meFoto Globetrotter Classic tripod. I leveraged the Olympus High Res shot mode to squeeze as much detail as possible and this also deliciously extended the exposure. Base exposure info 29mm | f8 | ISO 200 | 1/40th sec. Adding all the exposures up that created this image means the shutter was open about 3/4th of a second.

Post-Processing: I started out in DxO Photo Lab 4 and Nik HDR Efex Pro for the initial RAW processing, but I finished my workflow in On1 Photo RAW 2020.5.

This rabbit was sitting motionless in this tall grass hoping it was blending in and not being seen. I wanted to capture it just as it was but with focus on its eye which isn't too easy in a situation like this.

I drove by this barnyard with an interesting old barn and silo on my way back from Lincoln, Illinois as the sun was setting this evening.

Another image from the springtime storm here in central Illinois in northwest Champaign County last Thursday evening.

The skies over the Frankfort lighthouse ignited above ignited in a beautiful display of color over Lake Michigan. This pano was stitched from 9 handheld photos.

Recently I've been working 7-day weeks and barely anytime to shoot and watch movies at the cinema. Trying to find a way if it's possible to turn street photography into a living. I'm not trying to get rich or anything. I'm totally happy owning a small flat with a little garden with that special someone and my dog(s), a bicycle instead of a car and taking the metro for the rest of my life. As long as I have a camera and live close to the city I'll be the happiest person alive. But with my work it's keeping me away from what I really want to do. So with my spare time I'm trying to write down a plan how to find that balance of shooting street photography but providing a service in my local community that I can get paid for such as pet and headshot photography. Like many people I feel so burned out from work and I just that bit of courage to leave it and pursue my own thing.

I hope you're all having a fine day + week and have big plans for this weekend!

Morning Fog - playing with different techniques, both in camera and in post. Just trying for a different look from my usual shit.

The mining Town of Bodie's heyday was 1877-1881 and mining continued until 1942. Designated a State Park in 1962 the town is preserved in a state of "arrested decay"

Every day as I drive to work I see these large Compass Plants towering over all the other grasses and flowers at Buffalo Trace Prairie north of Mahomet, Illinois. These plants can get up to 8 feet tall. As you look up at their bright yellow flowers, their color just pops with the skies in the background.

The clouds looked interesting late this afternoon as we were right on the edge of a line of storms a couple of miles north of Mahomet, IL. They did not disappoint. Amazing color, textures and burst of rain several miles east of me.

I don't know if there's an actual title for this piece, but I've always called her "the watcher." I've taken several pictures of this mural over the years, finding different ways to share her beauty.
