Occasionally I spend some time going back through my hard drive to look at the photos that got away -- images that, for one reason or another were passed over and filed away without my ever doing anything with them. This is one, photographed at the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired Monona Terrace, Madison, WI., looked sort of humdrum in color but cleaned up quite nicely in black and white.

Wikipedia says the design has elements of Dutch Revivial, but I don't see that and don't want to.
Dutch Revival as an homage to the long Dutch heritage in Southern California? OK, the Netherlands - or part of it - was once part of the Spanish Empire, but I'm not buying this as Dutch Revival.
No, I see the Spanish world here.
I love the faux balcony on the right. I wonder if it once concealed speakers? I can envision cloistered nuns or sheltered señoritas watching the world go by from behind the screen.

Union Station [1939] was partially designed by John Parkinson and Donald B. Parkinson (the Parkinsons) who had also designed Los Angeles City Hall and other landmark Los Angeles buildings. They were assisted by a group of supporting architects, including Jan van der Linden. The structure combines Dutch Colonial Revival architecture (the suggestion of the Dutch-born Jan von der Linden), Mission Revival, and Streamline Moderne style, with architectural details such as eight-pointed stars.
(Oh for a camera lens that didn't screw up architectural perspectives.)

I've been a naughty boy just before Christmas. Whilst I'm supposed to be on "holiday" and taking a break with family&friends, inspiration hit yesterday and I designed these new babies for release on WooThemes in January.
The concepts still need a little refinement, but the basics are there.
You can also ignore the order of the widgets on the homepage, as they will be... umm... WIDGETS... :) So you can move them around.

Since I am a sucker for geometry (the best part of a city), this skylight in the lobby of the Marriott and the tower of Marriott rooms was irresistible.
Shot with my iPhone using the new 645Pro app, in the square aspect ratio.
Processed: (1) MobileMonet to get an outline sketch, (2) PhotoForge to layer the sketch over the original in Multiply mode, (3) Snapseed to tune up the contrast and saturation and to put a frame on the image, and (4) ScratchCam to make it more funky.
Location: Salzburg.
