The Glitch Moment(um) | Rosa Menkman
The Glitch Moment(um), is a audiovisual work in which Rosa Menkman sets out to tell the story of “every glitch” as a particular moment. Often described as an uncanny, threatening loss of control, the glitch throws a spectator into a void, which finally gives birth to new meaning. This can take place via exciting, archetypal or mundane forms and explains why eventually every glitch can become a new fashion, despite its initial critical potential.

Economics; the art of making money?
is his performantive lecture with which he introduced himself at tm2k12.
“Making money” denotes different things; primarily to earn money, but also printing or counterfeiting money, organizing local exchange trading systems, even designing alternative currency. The multivalence of the phrase delineates the space that my research has occupied. The space of representation, of circulation and dissemination, where power employs art(ists) and images to communicate its authority and to construct economic value, masking the self referentiality of money. In my presentation I will describe this space and suggest different strategies on how its possible to challenge economic value, from different plateaux; from psychoanalysis, from history, from linguistics, from philosophy, from the arts, and from economics itself.
The Vilém Flusser Residency programme aims to support conceptual projects and works that are towards a form of practice. The programme seeks to encourage new research approaches and further develop existing projects.
Greek philosopher and economist Georgios Papadoloulos has been selected as the first resident. In his research project Iconographies of Drachma; Speculations on Symbolic Value he addresses the economic reality of Greece and how it manifests itself in the currency Drachma.

The festival architecture of transmediale 2012 in the foyer of Haus der Kulturen der Welt was conceptualised by raumlaborberlin. The architectural installation comprises elements which, as an ensemble, are reminiscent of domestic living situations. Together, the objects seem to fuse a new spatial species, a hybrid between furniture and structural elements. Even though these fragments enclose several interior spaces, structuring and dividing the foyers of the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, they do not clearly define what is interior and what is exterior. Their own distinctive syntax is too open or too intricate to be deciphered and, as built paradoxes, they create an atmosphere of uncertainty.

ARIDATECE LA VILLA!
Dopo l'occupazione simbolica della villa di lusi di sabato scorso, oggi torniamo per le strade di Genzano per richiamare ancora una volta l'attenzione sulla truffa condotta sulle spalle di tutti noi.
Lo facciamo in maniera ironica, durante il carnevale, anche se ciò che denunciamo non fa per niente ridere e ciò che rivendichiamo non lo chiediamo per scherzo.
La villa di lusi è diventata per noi un simbolo, un simbolo di una situazione inaccettabile, dove, mentre ci chiedono di stringere la cinghia e sopportare giorno dopo giorno interminabili sacrifici, loro hanno l'arroganza, non solo di giocare con il nostro futuro per poi dire che siamo sfigati o mammoni, ma anche di rubare e sperperare denaro pubblico, alla faccia della crisi e del debito.
Per questo ci rifiutiamo di accettare che questo simbolo continui a rimanere nelle mani di lusi o chi con lui è complice del furto che abbiamo subito.
Ma se la villa è un simbolo, non sono per niente simboliche le richieste che noi facciamo.
Abbiamo già chiesto che la villa venga trasformata in un luogo aperto a tutti, asilo, biblioteca, centro culturale, o qualsiasi altro spazio di cui i cittadini di genzano hanno bisogno.
Otre a ribadire ciò, oggi chiediamo che l'amministrazione di genzano, il sindaco gabbarini, la giunta ed il consiglio comunale, si esprimano chiaramente sulla questione della villa e spieghino senza giri di parole e senza reticenze come pensano di contribuire ad una battaglia che è di tutta la cittadinanza. Senza atti ufficiali, senza una presa di posizione chiara, magari attraverso la costituzione come parte civile al processo, o attraverso una delibera di giunta o di consiglio, tutto ciò che ci viene raccontato rimane circoscritto nell'ambito delle buone intenzioni e delle belle parole.
Chiediamo quindi un incontro con il sindaco e l'amministrazione, non in piazza o durante qualche finto dibattito, ma in un consiglio comunale durante il quale il futuro della villa venga posto come primo punto all'ordine del giorno.
PERCHÈ SE QUELLA VILLA È STATA COMPRATA E RISTRUTTURATA CON I NOSTRI SOLDI, È A NOI CHE DEVE TORNARE, SIAMO NOI I LEGITTIMI PROPRIETARI.
Sfileremo per le vie del centro durante il carnevale in maniera ironica, se vuoi divertirti insieme a noi e guadagnare soldi (falsi naturalmente, mica come quelli di lusi!) non devi far altro che seguirci!

A live performance for Revox tape recorder and computer
I’m a survivor. Imagine growing up without an iPhone, EDM, or social media. I did it and lived to tell the tale. “Man, that must have been boring” you say? Well, yeah, that’s one way to put it. But in the 80s, no one had ever heard of a Global Financial Crisis, Global Warming, or Global Pandemics. True, life was simpler and more predictable, but with that came stability, a precursor to inner wholeness and happiness. And what was our vision moving forward? A hit from back in the day nailed it — “My future’s so bright, I gotta ware shades.” Have we humans, as a species, advanced? Can we call the present deluge of creature comforts progress? I feel for the Gen X and Zers - those coming of age in todays’ tsunami of consumerism and crisis. My hope is that they use these times as an inspiration to inquire into the higher, into purpose beyond matter. In this way, the present darkness can lead to light, to a truly bright future.
