G516, sporting its new LINX Cargo Care livery, drops downhill away from Enfield through Belfield working as T170 to Port Botany.
G516 is the first locomotive to recieve the new livery following the companies formation in August 2016 as part of the break of Asciano.

During our trip from Brisbane to Sydney we passed through the Hunter Valley. The Hunter Valley is famous and notorious for its many coal mines. For the railway hobbyist this provides a continuous stream of long freight trains, but after a few days the long coal trains also get bored and then a grain train is a welcome change. Many different types of locomotives are often used for the grain trains and are therefore very photogenic. SSR C510, G513, BRN001 and C505 pass through Thornton (NSW) station on a long train of boxcars for the transport of grain en route to Newcastle Harbour.

G535 waits at the South end of Marryat crossing loop to cross 2DA2 while working the AK cars from Tarcoola to Darwin on 3-11-20.
The consist had stabled at Cadney Park the previous night and will head to Alice Springs that night to stable again
NR57, G538 & NR85 lead Saturday afternoon's 7MC2 over the Moonee Ponds Creek at Gowanbrae.
The service operated by Pacific National allows farmers/producers in Leeton, Griffith and surrounds to get their products to Market in Melbourne, quickly, safely and reliably. 21/05/22
A side on shot of G515 seen crossing Cooks River between Tempe and Wolli Creek. Although CFCLA own three G Class (formerly owned by SCT, PN, Freight Australia and V/Line), only one is painted in their corporate livery.
G511 is on long term lease to SSR, and is painted in the SSR colour scheme of black and yellow, while G512 is on hire to Qube logistics (as is G515), although it still retains the SCT colour scheme and logos.
BRM002, G514 & RL301 with 442S1, L277 & 44223 (bankers on the rear) lead SSR's 5446 loaded grain from Arrow Narrabri to the Carrington Grain Terminal at the Port of Newcastle.
Bankers were attached at Werris Creek for the steep push over Ardglen Bank, before detaching at Pages River loop, to return light engine to Werris Creek. 23/02/23
G534 departs Yennora with a late running 1251 container freight from Yennora to Glenlee. Normally this train wanders through the metropolitan area before the peak hour begins, although it would appear that in this case, 1251 missed out on the freight curfew, and was held back to follow T280 (because nothing is allowed to make T280 late).
1251 conveys loading from Sydney, bound for Brisbane. It is shunted onto the Melbourne-Brisbane train at Glenlee, with the loading from Melbourne shunted off and returned to Yennora as 2152. Due to the late running of 2152, 5MB7 departed late, and 2152 departed quite late, only arriving into Yennora ahead of T281 (and nothing is allowed to make T281 late).
This meant that the return journey, 1253 did not make it out of Yennora before peak curfew descended (it might have left before T281 arrived, but that might make T281 late, which we can't have). This train conveys loading for Melbourne, to be shunted onto the Brisbane-Melbourne train at Glenlee, and return to Yennora in the evening with 2154, with the loading from Brisbane.
Why the interest in this train? It normally runs with a variety of vintage motive power, including members of the 421, 422, X, 423, CLF and CLP classes. The G Class are normally left for mainline running. Typical luck!
In the lower regions of the Mallee just outside of Watchem, XR555, X44 and G527 power away from the small town with 9101 empty Mildura 'Fruity' goods to Merbein (near Mildura) as the sun begins to come across the horizon.
During 2015, the Victorian State Government announced a plan to convert sections of the Yelta line into Standard Gauge along with building brand new lines connection regional areas to ports faster and effective. Trains like 9101/9102 Mildura goods could be a thing of the past come 2016.

G515 arrives at Stockinbingal with 8242N Goonumbla copper concentrate ore, bound (eventually) for Port Kembla Outer Harbour. The line to the left of the loco leads to Griffith via Temora.
The last time I photographed G515 was shortly after it was repainted into CFCLA livery, when it was captive to the (then newly launched) P&O Trans Australia Melbourne to Adelaide container service. Since then, the unit has had CFCLA logos applied, and the name "Rising Fast" applied beneath the cabs.
With the P&O service cut back from Adelaide to Horsham, and with new motive power arriving in the state for that service in the form of GML10, G515 and G512 were transferred to P&O's NSW operations. With G511, that means that all three CFCL Australia owned G Class are operating in NSW.
G515, RL304 and 869 slowly ease over the Cooks River with 1213N freight from Port Botany.
This train is operated by P&O Trans Australia, normally from Port Botany to Narromine via Orange and Dubbo (typically running as train 1811N). Today the train is only operating as far as Goulburn (typically to drop off/pick up locomotives or wagons at the workshops), using the "old" 1813 path (P&O used to run a second train to the west, although this contract has been taken up by IRA at the time of writing).
Due to trackwork on the main south line, all freight is being diverted via Wollongong. This meant that 1213N departed Port Botany passed Marrickville Junction, reversed the train on the triangle at Chullora to return to Marrickville Junction to access the down Illawarra Lines. At Wollongong, the train will climb the steep grades to Robertson and Moss Vale before continuing on to Goulburn. To access Narromine, this train will run south to Cootamundra West before heading north to Parkes via Stockinbingal. What a trip!
G515 is no stranger to Parkes, as I last shot it approaching Goobang Junction with a loaded ore train.
G530 and DL50 approach Junee with the Melbourne to Griffith superfreighter. This train will convey loading to Melbourne from the Leeton/Griffith area, with loading including wine, beer, meat and rice. The train will also shunt at Bomen (near Wagga) on its return journey, to collect additional loading.
We had brilliant sunshine up until about 45 minutes prior to the train arriving. Can't win them all, I suppose!
RailFirst VL354 and SSR G513 pass through the northern Sydney suburb of Pennant Hills on empty SSR grain train 4849 to Lithgow
"Buxton next stop, next stop Buxton."
When steam locomotive 2705 rolled out of the Hunslet Engine Company, Leeds, UK in 1913 it was known as number 1115.
In 1914 the locomotive entered service with the New South Wales Public Works Department and was registered on their inventory as number PWD 5.
1917 saw number PWD 5 being transferred to the Railways Department and yet again was renumbered, this time to number 1208 as part of G class.
It was not until 1924 that the locomotive was yet again reclassified to the Z27 class and with that came its number 2705.
The latter part of the 1950's saw the Class withdrawn fro service with 2705 having the distinction of being one of the last of the Class to be in service.
Today 2705 can be seen at the NSW rail museum at Thirlmere where on special occasions it runs from Thirlmere to Buxton and return.

Pacific National's X50, BL26 & G539 lead 7737V out of Geelong, through Bell Post Hill en route to Dimboola, having just unloaded at the Geelong Grain loop. 27/12/21
Lots of G Wagons in the Mayfair area. Amazing to think that's probably nearly £200K of car there. Then again, outside Claridge's, probably less surprising! Casually parked on the double yellow lines.
Thanks very much for viewing. Have a great weekend.
C506, G513, C509 and C510 head further west to the GrainFlow at West Wyalong as 3345.
This train operated as 4343 from Newcastle to West Wyalong, where it was then split into two rakes and loaded at the GrainFlow facility north of West Wyalong. Once the two rakes were loaded, they combined as 3444 back to Newcastle.
