An odd house in Portencross. With a peacock, who I hope got taken inside when the sea spray was blowing across...

Shôrinji 勝林寺, a small Zen temple in Tokyo, near Somei Cemetery, is the location of the gravesite of Tanuma Okitsugu, one of the Tokugawa shogunate's most (in)famous administrators.
It's one of those temples that, if you didn't know better, you'd wonder if it's actually a private home with a really nice gate. As soon as you pass through the gate, there's just a closed set of doors, and to the right, a small staircase leading up to what looks exactly like the entrance to a private home. To the left, there's a sign saying "No admittance to unauthorized people; for those looking to see Tanuma's grave, 200 yen." So, what does one do? Ring the doorbell on this random person's house? I really would have much rather if there were anyone there, to see them and say hello, and say excuse me I'd like to see the gravesite. But there was no one around. And, even after my walking in and out tripped some automated doorbell, there was still no indications of any movement... a friend later said I should have just allowed myself in anyway (there's no gate or door blocking entry to the cemetery, just the sign), and if I got caught, pretended to not be able to read Japanese. ... But I really prefer not to do things like that. Wish these people had just been a little more available...
