The Memorial Gates were erected in 1928, as a memorial to the students from the University of Saskatchewan who served in World War I. The gates are located on what was once the main entrance to the campus, and later Royal University Hospital. In the late 1980s, traffic was rerouted to the west, while the road going through the gates was changed into a turnaround. Wreaths are still laid at the site every Remembrance Day.

The Brandenburg Gate, Berlin, Germany, September 2015. Built 1788-91 in neo-Classical style by Carl Gotthard Langhans as the main gateway into Berlin from the west. It is surmounted by is Quadriga, a four horse driven chariot driven by Victoria, the Roman Goddess of Victory, sculpted by Johann Gottfried Schadow. At the end of WWII it formed the border between the Soviet Zone and the British Zone. Pictured from Parise Platz.
The Iconic "Gate of Heavenly Peace" with a portrait of Mao must have been photographed a billion times. Its widely used as a national symbol and serves as the entrance to what is the present day Forbidden City (It used to be alot bigger). The guards here are not known for their sense of humor from the look of things. :)

Bansley's Market Gate Bridge crosses the railway line running through the town centre. It replaced a level crossing and 'standard' railway footbridge.

"The gate between the Library of Celsus and the mercantile Agora was built by 2 slaves freed by Emperor Augustus in 3 BC. The inscriptions on top of the gate indicate Mazaeus and Mithridates, the two freed slaves, wished to honor the Imperial family. Statues of the Emperor and his family would have stood mounted above this inscription.
A curse on anyone urinating on the gate can be found written on the wall of the far right side of the Gate.

Jabez Legg built almshouses in Odessa Road, Forest Gate, known as
Forest Gate Retreat. Jabez Legg was a Congregational Minister of
the Forest Gate church, Sebert Road. He built three almshouses in
1858 and three more in 1863 to accommodate women who had
formerly been in domestic service. In 1939 the charity was
amalgamated with the Edith Whittuck charity of Wimbledon and
renamed the Legg-Whittuck Trust. Alms-women can come from any
part of the country, but in practice most of them have local
connections.
The buildings are described as single storey, small, plain and with
gabled fronts.
